I've been reading all the posts here and I'm really confused. I have the Shine.(720)

I took music and ringtones I had on my PC and got them to my phone. I'm a Newbie with all this stuff mind you

But when I go to put a special one on for a contact, it's not in the list! HELP! In simple terms can someone tell me how to do/move the music item to the ringtone file??

I pulled this from a prior post from LG Product Pro. Let me know if it workds for you...

Hi there,

To assign ringtones and pictures to specific contacts do the following:

Make sure your contacts are on your handset. They may also be on your SIM but they must be on your handset to assign ringtones and picture ID's

Menu > My Stuff > Audio & Ringtones > Select Ringtone > Options > Set As > Ringtone ID > Select Contact
Menu > My Stuff > Pictures > Select Picture > Options > Set As > Picture ID > Select Contact

Hope this helps!

I've gotten to the 'select ringtone' part but that's where the problem is, the ringtone I downloaded from PC isn't listed there. It's in my Music player(Mp3)/ Playlist...and there's no Options there to set as...... :-( Can't figure it out? Never had this kind of problem doing this with my other brands of phones..

I tried your suggestion and this is what happened:

Menu >
My Stuff >
Audio & Ringtones >
Select Ringtone >
Options >
Set As >
Ringtone ID >

I didn't get "Select Contact"

what I got was:
a field to enter a name (when I entered a contact name nothing happened.
under that was a list:
*Now,
Check Bill Balance,
Directory Assistance,
Pay My Bill,
View Data Usage,
View My Minutes,
Voice Connect.

Did i miss a step? Was I supposed to load my contacts to another folder?
Please advise.

This also happens when I tried to do picture ID as well.

Thanks in advance

Have you saved your contacts to your phone?

This phone, CU720, was an upgrade for signing another 2 year contract.
The salesman at Best Buy gave me a new SIMS chip and transferred my contacts from the old LG phone to my new Shine.
My contacts are in the Address Book under "Contacts"

I tried it again this morning and I got a slightly different result.
Instead of "*Now,Check Bill Balance,Directory Assistance,Pay My Bill,
View Data Usage,View My Minutes,Voice Connect", what I got was the field to enter a name and under that field were the words "No Contacts".

Am I supposed to save my contact list to another folder of the phone's memory? Please advise. Thanks in advance. -Cliff-

It sounds to me that you need to transfer your contacts from the sim card to your phone memory, I could be wrong but try this just to make sure. Go into your address book, then go to management then copy from sim.

I went into my address book but there was nothing there that said "management"
What was there was Contact List, New Contact, Caller Groups, Speed Dial List, Copy all Contacts, Delete all Contacts, Service Dial Numbers, My Business Card, View Options, My Numbers.

Thanks, that was what I actually ended up doing. There were 2 choices, Smart Chip to Handset and Handset to Smart Chip.
I forgot which one was default but I did the other one and apparently that was the answer. NOW I have 2 sets of each contact in my address book, one with a handset icon and one with a smartchip icon. Can I delete one set of contacts or do I need to keep both complete sets so that my ring tone and photo ID's will be secure?

To have them saved to your SIM and phone you will see both contacts on there. You could delete your contacts from your SIM, but I don't reccomend that. I would keep both on the phone.
