I have just been given an LG Vu to replace a Sony Ericsson W580i that has been very unreliable. Very slick but the menus wil take a little getting used to. I am waiting for a data cable but in the meantime, I cannot seem to figure out how to assign a different ring tone to different contacts so that I can hear a different ring tone for different people.

Can it be done to an individual contact? Must it be to a group? Any help would be appreciated. I have read the manual, looked on line but I must be very thick today.

first of all you need to make sure your contacts that your want to attach rigntones to are saved under your phone's memory, not a SIM card or sd chip. after they are you go to them, hit edit and scroll down until you see "rintgone" and you can then select which song you want for them. then just make sure you save it and that should be it.

but what about recordings? It won't let me do that!

oh you know you cannot put a ring tone to all of your contact because i know that when you put some ring tone it will direct to all of your contacts not to only one,

You can definitely assign an individual ring tone for your contacts well in this way you can simply determine who is calling you upon hearing your tone go to your contacts and make sure that your contacts are onphone memory then you can simply edit and assign tone individually or the way you want it don't forget to save
