Would be a compatable setting for the UX840 Triatan for BitPim 1.0720090303? Or is there a newer version of BitPim available or other software to acccess Tritan for file level access? I would like to edit/replace the homepage.html file for the browser and remove the many unecessary ringtones.
TIA - Roy

I was able to gain filesystem access using version 1.0.7.20091103 by setting the phone type to LG-VX9700 (Dare).

Looking through the list of Supported phones and it doesn't look like they list the Tritan as being supported. I was thinking there were more US Cellular phones on the list than there are. You might contact them to see if they have any plans of adding the Tritan to there support list.

What about the Rumor 2 phone from Virgin Mobile. I seem to have all kids of trouble doing anything even things they say you can do on their web site. I spoke to LG support regarding USB transfer and the menu items they told me to use don't even exist on my phone.

In the TOS from VM's site they specifically place warranted obligations on LG as the manufacturer of this phone but LG puts the blame back on VM? It seems that if I purchase a phone with my money and I own the phone I should be able to expect that it will not be crippled in any way by someone who does not own my property.

So you're concerns are that you can't download and run 3rd party applications? The Rumor 2 is a lower end feature phone configured specifically for Virgin Mobile to meet what they felt are their customers needs. I don't have a Virgin Mobile Rumor 2 Users Guide, but there should be a "Mass Storage" Option under Settings> Tools> USB Mode> Mass Storage Mode which will allow you to mount the MicroSD card on your computer as another Drive Letter.

If other parties are stating that they have applications that will install and run on the Rumor 2,that's great. Apparently it has been done before but installing 3rd party applications isn't something that LG supports, it's "Do at your own risk"...

If the phone is not performing as it was intended to, then that's a Warranty issue. The Rumor 2 has a 1 Year Manufacturer's warranty.

If you have found a place to download "JAR" files like www.getjar.com Jar files are the ones you need for the Rumor 2 to have a chance f them working. You might try http://rumkin.com/tools/sprint/ This site claims to install '.jar" files to your phones internal memory which you will need to do to run them.

(I know this is directing you to the Sprint portion of the site but if they don't have Virgin Mobile, maybe this will work)

The Rumor2 is crippled completely in this context.
the Settings> Tools> USB Mode> Mass Storage Mode does not exist on this phone.

Do you have the Rumor II for Virgin Mobile, or Sprint? The Mass Storage Mode is available on the Sprint Version... I can only guess that it was Virgin Mobiles decision to pull it from there Version of the Rumor II... That's a feature I use a lot on my phones. Sorry

I understand... The Non- Tech Savy users will never know, but those who really use there phones, like you, it will be a little limiting.
