Hello Everybody. I just joined today. I am a happy new owner of a Rumor Touch, bought it from Radio Shack, its a Virgin Mobile phone. As you can tell by the message title, I use Linux, very happy with linux for about 5 or 6 yrs. I downloaded BitPim yesterday, it won't detect my phone, today I downloaded ver. 1.07 I will install it tonight and try.

Are there linux users Here? Any luck connecting Rumor Touch to BitPim ??

I thank you all in advance for any helpful answers.

BitPim hasn't been updated since Jan of this year. I'm sure it won't recognize the Rumor Touch, but sometimes people have used older, simular phone settings to get it to work... I probably wouldn't recommend trying that but It might be fun.... Just don't write anything out to the phone until you are sure what's going on.

Hi, fellow long-time Linux user here, have a Rumor Touch also. From what I've read, bitpim needs drivers for specific devices. Some are included, others not. I have looked for drivers for the Rumor Touch, but so far have found none. My guess is that since it's a newer model, a driver will need to be written.

I believe BitPim relies on the LG Drivers to communicate with the phone. But it needs to have a phone profile to identify which model and be able to read/write the data to the correct locations... Windows Drivers are on this site. Unfortunately I'm not aware of any Linux drivers.

Thanks guys , for the quick response. I'm the original poster.
I am disappointed. I thought with a little Tweaking, I would be able to use BitPim to save, contacts and memos, and do other stuff. I will have to search for some other Linux solution.
