Years ago I had this nifty little LG flip phone with a camera on the front that was one of my favorite phones. The thing that I liked most about it, was that I could customize text alerts for all of my friends. It was great being able to know who was texting me without even having to look at my phone to determine whether I needed to rush over and read the incoming text or not. I'm surprised that LG hasn't used that capability since then (2002-03ish ?). It would stand to reason that if a later model phone had a certain function, one would think that earlier models would carry the same function - apparently, that is not the case.

I would love to see this feature make a come back, since I tend to lean towards LG phones first before looking at other manufacturers.

So you are looking at assigning different alert tones for individual contacts? Yeah that's a Good suggestion. Requesting custom Alert tones for SMS and MMS messages seems to be pretty popular, so I don't know why it was removed, But I'll pass this on to the development team.

It was the VX8300. I had it too, and loved that feature.  The first Chocolate also has it.  I know this because I have apsnt ages trying to figure out what other phones have it and why it was discontinued, as have many others. NO idea why LG got rid of it, people loved it, I loved it, and I am actually still using my 5-year-old VX8300 rather than buy anything new from LG just because of this feature.  I think LG would be REALLY wise to start including it again, as well as to release software updates for their other phones.  I like LG, but the absence of this feature is driving people to look at other brands that do have it.  PLEASE bring it back!
