LG CAN YOU HEAR US??!!!

First off, the Lotus is an awesome phone and many of us owners are very pleased with this device. There are so many things right with this phone its unbelievable. However, with many of us Lotus owners being cellphone enthusiasts, we have discovered some glitches and obstacles with usability and we want to share them with LG in hopes that you address & fix them with a firmware update. We are URGENTLY & DESPERATELY requesting that LG makes these IMMEDIATE firmware updates to improve the Lotus' functunality, usability & popularity (other suggested firmware updates for the Lotus feel free to use this thread also):

* If you text to a non-contact LOTUS will continually ask you if you want to save the person as a contact (try it u will see what i mean) -- this should be an ask once type thing or a feature that can be turned on or off

* If you disable "flip answers call" then you cannot answer a call on speakerphone, you'll have to press TALK and then speakerphone, an unnecessary step imo -- LOTUS should allow you to answer a call on speakerphone with 1 click (TALK or speakerphone should pick up a call, TALK and speakerphone should be equal in ALL circumstances)

* The carousel should be able to be disabled or there should be carousel user controlled settings.

* If you can press and hold a key to select its number, then you should be able to press and hold a key to select its symbol!

* The call history should be divided into: missed, outgoing & incoming and have a history longer than a couple of days. The last 10-20 in each category should be held.

* LOCKING: This phone should have an auto-lock feature after a certain amount of time. For all of the private information that this phone can hold (i.m. account info & chats, emails, pictures, videos, etc.) this phone should be able to be locked automatically. Also, you can only chose 1 lock option at a time so if you selected "lock on power-up" it will unselect this if you need to select "lock now". Those should not be exclusive options.

* INSTANT MESSAGE handles AND passwords should only be stored on request by checking a box. The way it is set up now your handle is automatically stored when you log out, not good for privacy reasons. Also, all IM options should have the option to "exit all" and clear the username & password fields with that selection.

* There should be a password prompt before checking your email. As it is now all you have to do is click "email" and anyone with your phone can check all your emails in that account. This is not good for privacy & security reasons.

* Clicking SYMBOL twice in a text should take you to smileys, 3x's to emoticons (?)

* Create some pre-installed video ringers

* While on a call the display goes black, there should be something on the screen that lets you know your call is still active. As it is now, you have to say hello? or press a key. Seeing as how it is so easy to lose or drop a call, some type of display on the screen would be useful for a quick glance.

* There need to be better 3-way call options. For instance you should be able to hang up on 1 person instead of having to terminate the entire call. When one person leaves the 3-way call their number still shows up on the display, when a person leaves the call, their information should also leave the screen. -- Also if you get a text while on a call and you press SPEAKERPHONE the phone calls the person whose text is on the screen and again, the only way to deal with this is to hang up the entire call. SPEAKERPHONE should just be speakerphone.

* Phone Information under Voice Controls is a helpful information feature and should be under tools as well with or with out voice.

* The carousel should scroll and THEN list the menu options, this would be faster then waiting for the carousel to display menu options first.

* The YOUTUBE app is crashing the phone.

* Increase the menu speed & keyboard.

* Create a have a dismiss option for the event alrams.

* PLEASE CREATE A STOPWATCH or COUNTDOWN...this is SOOOOOOO HELPFUL

* Sanyo has an awesome feature called CALL SCREENING - this is one of the best features in the entire world, please adopt it!

* The status light needs to be upgraded for sure, blink for text messages, etc.

* Set ringtones based on caller id / no caller ID rather than contacts / no contacts

*Better clocks for outside screen. ( why semi transparent and off to the side?)

*Better style for texting and alerts. ( B&W and a boring font?)

*Zoom in the camera. That is also unacceptable that you have to switch the resolution when you want to zoom.

*Time stamps while text messaging dont display when the message is sent but rather the time the phone got it. If someone sends a text at 2:30 AM, you wake up and turn it on at 11:30, the timestamp will be 11:30

* A setting to change repeat delay and repeat rate on the cursor. I hate having to push the navigation key 50 times to go back to the beginning of a sentence in an email or text to change a typo. If I just push and hold the back navigation button the delay and the speed at which the cursor goes backward is waaay too slow. Even when cursing down or over on a web page, it just seems faster to click click click the navi keys instead of click and hold.

* Multiple text message conversation delete: I only want to keep a few of my convos, so I would like to be able to check off all others and delete them instead of having to confirm for each one

* When I silence a call, flip the phone open to answer it, and try to answer it, the call goes to three way calling and I put the first person on hold... Kinda a PITA if I accidentally hit a side key when getting my phone

Thank you for being a loyal LG Lotus customer! Youre feedback is very much appreciated and I have forwarded your recommendations to the appropriate LG and Sprint teams for review and consideration.

Here is a list of my suggestions:

1: Keyboard Lag. Its really not acceptable for there to be any sort of lag at any time. I see a terrible lag in Opera text entry and entering double characters and the same time, and just a bad lag in general when entering regular text messages. I have to proofread every time i send. its extremely frustrating.

2. I love threaded text messaging, but the way its done in this phone isn't that stellar. I like that it shows the previous message when you respond, but its hard to see them in sequence. You have to go into each message to see what it says you cant just see the whole thing. Also i think its much more natural to go from the top down not the bottom up. It feels very backwards.

3. MAJOR fix to the status light, like flashing red when you miss something i don't know its just basically functionless right now.

4. Zoom in the camera on the highest resolution. That is also unacceptable that you have to switch the resolution when you want to zoom.

5. After you take a picture, there is no option to assign it to a contact right away. That is pretty tedious, even though you can go to a contact and take a picture from there. My first instinct is to go to the camera, take a picture, then be given the option to assign it. It doesnt work like that...

6. Some sort of standard font. Every time i open something new its a different font. Its not very practical or aesthetically pleasing.

7. The key beeps and noises the phone makes are a big deal to me. The keys beep like a regular keypad when typing a message. There should be no noise when using the entire keypad to type a message, or they should be tinks like on a Sidekick or something pleasing. It shouldnt sound like youre mashing on a 12 digit keypad. I had to turn it off altogether because it would be so annoying. I also HATE that the phone makes noises when you put it on vibrate. If you put a phone on vibrate, it should vibrate. Thats IT. Maybe if you put it on 1 beep, it could have key beeps. This phone keeps on key beeps, the turn on/off noises, application volumes, listening to ringers, and other noises when the phone is on vibrate/1 beep. If a phone is on vibrate then you obviously just want it to vibrate. This is a tedious and frustrating problem.

8. One click needs to be able to go away and come up with THE CLICK OF A BUTTON. it doesnt make sense the way it is now. It wont disappear and it isnt very intuitive. Plus, it lags. It needs to be fixed. Plus it kills the battery like crazy. That needs to be remedied.

9. An update to the browser

11. Sometimes I check for a PRL update and it says there is one and its been updated but it never stays. Thats a problem... Plus all the stores need fixing. Mobile email is hard to look at. Theres nothing special about it, the fonts are bad. when shopping for products when you scroll down it doesnt display the whole text. Thats clearly wrong...

12. If you hit the music player buttons a lot in a row quickly the "keyguard on" message comes up and goes away even after youre done pressing. A sign of the lag...

13. The main menu needs polishing. Each name scrolls every time you go over it. The font is too big or something, it just looks sloppy.

14. The call history should be categorized with missed, received, etc. Its hard to navigate right now.

15. Message sent shouldn't be an exclamation point it should be something less. An exclamation point should mean like it needs your attention or something...

16. When searching for a contact if you mistype nothing comes up. For example if you are searching for your friend "trisha" and you search t-r-u accidentally instead of t-r-i then nothing comes up. Trisha should come up and the U shouldnt display, but instead nothing comes up.

17. In general the phone should be more customizable. There arent a lot of options, at least as much as i have hoped. There should be more that you can do to make it more fitting to what you want it to be. Maybe colors for the menus, etc...

18. Holding a button when typing should make a letter come up multiple times, not just once. The text entry needs to be fixed. I agree with the comments above.

One request I have is that the Roaming Only option be included when setting the roaming mode. I had a Rumor before the Lotus and it had that feature (so has every other phone I've had with Sprint for the past 4 years). This option is important to me because I live in an area with a strong roam signal and a very faint Sprint signal. On Automatic the phone continually searches for a Sprint signal instead of locking onto the strongest signal. Please fix immediately!!!

Another thing is not being able to save text messages. I have read the User Guide and did not see anything and would love to be able to save certain texts.

Other than these 2 things, I LOVE MY LOTUS!!

Texting seems to lag. i dont think its sprint as i didnt have any problems with text lag til i got this phone and we have 6 lotus's now. more than one seems to do this.

I want to address not a wish list but report real problems.

When using the Youtube app, searching, randomly causes the phone to reset. The graphic animation when browsing through the video selections can cause the phone to reset. Its almost like the app is putting to much strain on the phones resources causing an intermittent drop in power? Not sure.

At times the text keys get very sluggish, when typing in web forums as an example, as the number of words increases, the slower the response becomes. Again, it seems like a software issue.

Zooming in to much on a certain PDF documents causes the phone to reset. Other PDF documents seem fine.

This phone is by far the best phone I have ever owned. Its small folded size allows me to almost sleep with this phone. I keep it on me all day long. With a few optimizations, this phone can near perfect.
