Hey,

I've had the Voyager for a little while now, and I've been thinking of a few ideas for upgrading it. Most of which are software updates or crazy ideas.

First off, it's nice to have shortcuts on the touchscreen menu, but I use the notpad tool alot and it's not one of the options for a touchscreen shortcut. It would be cool if it was. That's the simple idea.

On to the crazy ideas. The Voyager has a small window-like opening on the top front of the phone that looks like an infared transmitter on a remote. It would be cool if it actually was, and I was wondering if that was possible and who to contact to do so. Seeing that it's a touchscreen there could potentially be an unlimited amountof buttons that could be programmed into it.

Lastly, the voyager opens like a computer but only the inside is accessible when open. The phone is equipped with a camera and both the camera and the ouside screen are facing the same way when open. It would becool if the voyager had video chat capability that utilized this feature like a webcam. Maybe with capatability with online chat engines like Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger who already have webcam chat capability.

If I get anymore ideas I know where to post 'em!

Ah, also have you heard of any touchscreen games being developed or on the market? All the current games require you to open your phone to play.

You can overwrite your ez tip calc or world clock on the outside screen to be a small flashlite application. I have mini-golf, and I've seen bomberman and a bunch of others. I play it with a stylus on the touch screen.

Adding infared would be something you would have to talk to the developers at LG about. I don't know of any of their phones (I'm sure none on Verizon) that have IR at all. Adding it to an already existing phone is not something that will happen.

oh, and the webcam thing can't happen on a CDMA network. It's the same reason why you can't send/receive pix messages or get GPS directions while in a conversation. Wait a few years for LTE and everyone will start having video calls like the 3G phones in Asia.

My wife has Voyager (gift from me), I love that phone, and looking to upggrade my 9800. Voyager would be a no-brainer, but whose "smart" idea it was to get rid of the Note field in the contacts? I need that field. No Note, no deal.

Frankly, I would like to see an Address field with a direct hook into VZ Navogator, and a Birthday field - with a notify option. Both in addition to Note. Those would be an icing on the cake. But a phone without a field where I can enter an address or some other info I will not even consider.

The idea of an address field linked to VZ Nav is really cool. I also wish there was a note field on the voyager.

New here, but i had to sign up to answer this. Ibelieve that infared transmitter, is the bluetooth. and if you look in your lovely voyagr guide, on page 94. You see that with newer LG phones, have the ability to pair with other bluetooth devices (I think the ability is to sync with newer phones and/or pdas/smartphones) so sync up contacts at least. it also does a bluetooth pairing mode to bluetooth able printers. I havea phone printer that will allow me to print out pics from my voyager to it. (The dare does the same, read it in a friends manual, has all the same bluetooth opts as the voyager) I say whipped out that give and give it a try. Manuals come in handy, thats why the good lords of LG (also all the other cell manufactors out there) give them to us to figure out the basics.

FYI... when the voyager is in the open phone mode, you can take pics with the outside screen. I dont know who all knows or dont know.

I'd like the ability to change the clocks (time, alarm and calendar) to the 24 hour format. It sucks when I get to work 12 hours early cuz I forgot to change am to pm.

You really can't tell the difference between AM/PM by looking at the two letters... or even MORE shockingly just by looking outside?

Hmm, I work 9-5. I get off at 5 and go home, suddenly, 4 hours later... Oh Noes! I have to go to work again?! How did that happen?

Steve, I have a question for you,
Do you use your voyager for music also or not
you said something about an LTE, can you elaborate more on that?

Yes, I use it for music. I have a 2.5mm->3.5mm adapter which I hook to a 3.5mm->cassette adapter in my car. My ghetto mp3 player. Heh. It works great. I also use it when I'm biking with a set of stereo BT headphones.

Here is an article on LTE in the Wikipedia. Basically, it's 4G data. If you go to the Philippines right now, people can make video calls. Pretty sweet with 3G technology. Some CDMA carriers (Verizon being one) have chosen to adopt LTE as their next step of data evolution. Which is awesome. Imagine all the things that make CDMA great, merged with the things that make GSM great.
