How long before PC Suite software will be developed to work with GW620? It's very annoying that to date, all I can do is see the memory card as an additional drive when connected to the computer. The PC Suite software from my old Cookie detects that a phone is connected but "loses connection" if you try to do anything with the GW620 connected. We desperately need the ability to read the phone memory, to copy photos saved to it, for example, and it would be good to be able to save contacts and SMS messages (texts) to the computer too.
Also, the GW620 definitely needs an update to the OS to enable file transfer by Bluetooth

Good question, and I agree an LG "PC Suite" would be great. The GW620 isn't a U.S. phone so I don't have any idea what the plans are for it... But I will make sure that LG is aware that sync software is needed. I know this should be an LG Solution, but looking on-line it looks like there are some third party solutions for backing up an Andriod Phone.

I second that, I have searched for the GW620 PC and cannot find one which is very dissapointing because I am having problems with trying to transfer files to my phone via pc, I keep getting an error msg "please insert a disk in drive f"

where can I get support for this?

I'd check out www.lge.com and choose your region. I think there is an international version of LG Sync which should work with your phone. If not try Synccell "www.synccell.com/" also try a Google search for "LG Sync"

Again this should be an LG Solution but other than what I have mentioned, I'm not sure of any other solutions.

Their are several apps in the Android Market that can help install ".apk" files, like "SystemPanel".  Either download or copy the apk file to your MicroSD card on your phone...  Then Open it with an installer application and it will install the apk file to the correct place on your phone.

Ths contacts you have on your phone should be saved to your Gmail account that you used to set up your phone...  SMS Messages?  Their are several Apps in the Android Market that will back up your SMS messages so you can restore them after a reset.

Good questions...  What Email provider are you using? Are you using Microsoft Outlook?

I don't have an Android 1.x device here to look at.  On the 2.x Android devices, setting up your Google account is the first thing you do.  It sounds like it's set up a little differently on the GW620...  All I can suggest is that you search the Android Market for an application that will help you.  Looking in the Market, I see one that will work with Yahoo Contacts "YContacts" just like Gmail... I see another one "Address Book Sync" that appears to work with several international Carriers.

Let me know what you find.

Hi all,

I have the LG GW620 with firmware version 1.5 and software version 10b.

I have experienced some very odd behaviour with my contacts in that my phone has decided to delete them all. When I type in new contacts, it will not save the phone numbers.

I am thinking about just backing up my contacts & texts then returning the phone to factory settings unless anyone has any ideas?

Have you checked the Display options in your Contact management app?  I have seen some of the options get turned off so that some of the Contacts don't display...  You might want to check to see if everything is turned on.  Go to Contacts>> Settings>> Display Options to show all of the accounts and there contacts on your system,,,  make sure they are all turned on (Green Check Marks) and then see if they show up.

Also check your Gmail account on your PC and see if your Contacts are listed there, if so you can restore them from your GMail account

I would contact LG Support in your region and see what they suggest as far as getting to the Market...  The Markey Icon comes standard on all US Android phones, so I would think there would be an equivalent for the international market as well.

"APK" files need to be installed. I would use something like "ES File Manager" or "Astro File Manager" they will both install .APK files... Both of these apps can be found and installed from the Android market.  Once you have a File Manager installed, use it to navigate to the APK files and select it, and it should start the install process.
