Hello, I am new here. I got my LG Ally 7-5. I have been fighting the signal and standby/battery drain issues. In my home I have 100% time no signal and about 70% of battery used on Standby. I have done every fix I have found: *#*#4636#*#*, *228 (option 2), airplane at turn on, battery our/in. No changes that can be at all reliable. I show no or 1 bar of signal and drop calls frequently. When I leave home this is better but I absolutely must have the signal at home too. My little boy has diabetes and this is our lifeline.

I would think this just an issue with my house but my husband has the new Droid X and has a full signal: all bars, 10% or less no signal, and very little standby battery use. Also, internet seems to work fine on the Ally even when it shows no bars or signal. The battery, while inconvenient, is not my main problem. I REALLY need to have service. What advise do you have? I hate to spend more $$, really like the slide out keyboard and just want my phone to work. I don't want to be jealous of his phone but envy his service. Is there a difference in the antennae in the phones or is it a bug that can be fixed?

Any help would be GREAT!

You are still within your 30 day window to exchange. I would go back to the store and get a new one. If you have the same issue again,I'd consider a new phone. Sometimes there are just those "bad eggs". That would be my suggestion.

I have had my Ally for the same amount of time, and my time on standby is hovering around 9-10% only. That was just by doing the airplane mode fix and I have had no other issues otherwise thus far.

i had to go ahead and exchange my phone today.
while performing an experiment with signal/dropped calls i discovered yet a new issue. the calls were very choppy when i held the phone close to my head, if i got it 5 inches or so from my ear the call reception was perfectly clear. we tried this process many times with the same result. odd. so, we took the phone back. incidentally i now have an ally otter box to find a new home for. we opted for an original droid. i like the feel and style of the ally better but i have a full signal and only 8% standby use.

So last night before I went to sleep, I had charged my phone. I did leave it on and unplugged after. Woke up this morning after checking one email on it, and noticed battery life was at 56%??? I checked the "time without signal" and it was at 2% only. So where did my battery life go on this???

Pro I am wondering if it is worth it to swap out the battery I have in my Ally for an extended battery?

Good question, I've been thinking of grabbing one as well... The extended battery does give you an additional 800mAh So I'm wondering how much additional time that translates into... If you do pick one up make sure you get the Battery Cover for the extended battery ($3.74)

I wouldn't hurt to have two Batteries in case you get caught away from a charger.

It looks like both are available from Verizon's on-line store.

Thanks for the advice.

I today decided to try that "*#* ..." trick and it just might have done it to fix my issue. Battery today has been in the 90% range, cell standby time is at 1% currently, has been off the charger and I have hardly used my phone today. Hopefully this will do it and I can save $40 on another battery when quite honestly, the first battery SHOULD work in the first place.
