I just found out that there is a software update being pushed out to your Extraverts.  It's in the process of being released today, I believe.  You should see it on your phone any day now...  Yes, it does address the "Low Memory issues that some of you are seeing...  I'll see if I can get more details

What's the general summary of what it takes to do the update?

I first tried a local update first (settings-->phone info-->software update-->check new.   After it finishes checking, it comes back with "Server Unavailable Check for software update when service is available".  The thing is, i get phone calls and texts just fine.

In attempting the update information as layed out on the home page of this website, I read that an installer window will open when you plug your phone into the computer.  Instead, i get the normal driver wizard opening on my winxp.  I downloaded the verizon drivers (LG_USB_Drivers_ALL_4.9.7 and LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.3.1....looks like i needed just the LG_USB one) and it installed fine.  The windows xp driver wizard completed as expected.   After that, i don't see what i'd have to do next.  (??)  Nothing is progressing like the instructions on the website homepage is implying.

What steps are missing between what I'm seeing on my end, and what the website homepage directions say to do?  I guess i'm just wondering if 10,000 calls to the customer support number is really what has to happen?

These instructions are all dependent on the "AutoRun" file on the Extravert-Prepaid that should automatically launch the first time the phone is plugged in...  Do you have the Extravert for a PrePaid account, or the one that is on contract?  There is a difference between the two, and I helieve the instructions on the home page are only for the PrePaid version....  The autorun should automatically run, and walk you trough the update process.  If that isn't happening, I'll have to look into what might be happening..

I'm surprised the Update Serrver is giving you the Unavailable error... The updates are usually on the servers longer.  Have you tried the LG Update tool?  I don't know if it will recognize the PrePaid version but you can try it...

Oh thank goodness. I just dropped straight talk, and switched to verizon prepaid today (its worth the extra 5 bucks for per month to get better phone options and customer service from the united states) I was VERY discouraged when the rep told me about this problem and that LG was working on it. Practically all i do is use data!  Online a TON, texting, pictures, thats what i do. What i do least is call people, haha. Im really hoping to get this update soon. It is just sent directly to your phone? If you know, or can find out anymore details about how to get the update, or if i just have to wait for it, please let me know! Thanks.

Actually, i just got it all figured out. The driver is available on the LG website. You need to download it to your computer, then to your phone. Instead of me trying to explain it all, just call LG customer support at 800-793-8896 and they will walk you right through it. Plan on a total of appx 1 hour to call, install the drivers to the computer, and get it all transfered to the phone

Hi,
I just recently upgraded from a Cosmos 1 to the Extravert (Verizon is my carrier).  I've had my phone for one day.  Before I performed the update to VN271ZV4 everything was working fine.  I performed the OTA update today, and my phone freezes then reboots every time I do anything that accessed the phone memory (no SD card in this phone yet).  I try to access music, pics, camera, anything....freeze and reboot.  Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!

I've got the Verizon pre-paid version of the Extravert.  Perhaps the AutoRun file isn't present on mine (?).   I got it just before christmas as far as the timeframe, so it would be interesting to see if a batch of them didn't get this file.

I'm going to check out the link you gave me for the LG update tool and see what happens.

Hey guys just had the same issue with My Prepaid Verizon LG Extravert. I had only just bought this phone on 12-8-11. and it started giving me the "MEMORY FULL DELETE SOME FILES" crap (even though I had no picutres, videos, ringtones, apps NOTHING). Then I downloaded the new software. If you got your phone from walmart or anystore in the plastic packaging then you should have gotten a USB charger that attaches to a wall adapter. Turn your computer on and leave on home screen YOU DO NOT NEED TO OPEN THE INTERNET. when the USB cable was inserted into my computer, I was prompted to attatch my phone to the other end of the cable and download new software. I let it download...and so fourth-the phone RESET. it seemed fine until I tried to work the internet....and when I went to access my mobile Web the phone would shutoff and restart. IF YOU ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE DO THIS:

Call Verizon customer service(with a different phone not your own/if not available try the live chat online)
Tell them the issue with your phone
From what the representative told me this is a COMMON ISSUE with this phone. THEY HAVE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS
They will walk you through the reprogramming process. It took me three different trys to get it to work and try three did the trick.
PLEASE BE PATIENT IT WILL WORK! :)
Basically you call a number and enter all these codes
AND FOR THE BOOKS what they are having you do across the phone( IS NOT a MASTER RESET,PHONE RESTORE OR Re activation-*22890) So if you have tried doing a master reset and it hasnt worked is because there is a secret menu that you can only activate with VERIZONS codes.

So dont sweat call their customer service, sit there waiting for 20 minutes hearing the same recordings...do the walk through with your rep...and fix that phone! :) Good luck people!

I will be returning my Extravert for a refund and having my contract extension cancelled. I am so sick of having phones that do what ever they want.

Yes, that will get you to the programming menu.  Just be careful you could mess up your phone if you don't know what you are doing.

Agreed.... Ugly things could happen that you won't be able to recover from.

I wouldn't recommend the LG Extravert phone to anyone that is doing the prepaid plan through Verizon.I have only had my phone for 3 months and  the memory issue can not be fixed at Verizon stores. I was told when I called Verizon that I needed either a landline and access to internet or taking it to my nearest Verizon store with a repair shop. Since I do not have a landline I drove a considerable distance to get my phone fixed, spent over an hour in the store only to be  told that the only thing they could do was use the warrenty and get me a new phone... only one problem with that I have to give them my phone and WAIT on the new one that could take any where from 5 to 10 days..... I am terribly upset, they have my money, not only for the phone but for the 50 dollars a month for unlimited everything that I can not use!!! Don't buy this phone if you are going prepaid, not worth the time and trouble it takes to fix it!!!

(I posted this in the general Mobile forum, but since it's Verizon, I thought I'd repost here.)

I just got the LG Extravert from Verizon, and I had the same problem that others have experienced: using the media icons causes the device to freeze. If I selected My Pictures, I'd hear the click, but nothing would happen, and the device would freeze. If I clicked My Music, I'd see the music screen, but then the device would freeze.

I went back to the Verizon store, and they swapped out the unit for another. Problem solved. However, when I left the store, I held my breath, because the Verizon "software update" process had started. I knew that there was a new release of the LG software, and I was hoping that wasn't the cause of the freezing problem. But after the update, everything still worked. So, I'm assuming that there is a batch of Extravert devices that are simply defective.
