I upgraded to the LG enV Touch after returning my BBCurve 8530 because I couldn't type properly on it. Anyways, the night I first received it is when I started to have problems. Sometimes when I receive a text message the screen will turn white, or it will turn black and I will not be able to access the message unless I open/close the screen (depending on which I'm on when I receive the text) and then it finally comes up. With my first device, it would shut off on me while I was typing a text. Verizon updated my OS and I was back a week later. Last Tuesday they gave me a brand new device but the problem persisted. It stopped shutting off on me, but now it started to turn black instead of just white like my first device. And when I would receive a text the bar along the bottom where the date is would turn white first and THEN the text would arrive. It is not even a week later and I already have a third device. So far it's working decently, but it's only been a few hours.

Is anyone else having problems with receiving text messages and the screen blanking out even WITH the new update patches installed? I read through a few of the threads in which people have been having the issue of the phone shutting off on its own. Verizon said that the screen going completely white or black appears to be new. I'm considering sending it back to them (even though I still love it!) while I'm still under the 30 day trial period and ordering myself a BlackBerry Tour 2 when it arrives. And does anyone know if there's a new edition of the LG Chocolate Touch coming out soon? I liked that one as well, but I think I may need an external keyboard.

Thanks in advance!

I'm sorry to hear about the problems you have experienced with the enV Touch. I've had mine for several months now and it has worked great. However I have seen the Black screen but only once or twice since I got it. I'd hang in there with this one until you get real close to your 30 days. if it does act up then you can make the decision then.

My thirty days ends on Saturday. :/ About 30 minutes ago the screen went black for no reason when I wasn't even texting on it - I was just trying to look at the time and I had to open/close it to get it to work. No more than two minutes later the screen turned white when I received a text message. This is my third one so I'm kind of fed up with it at this point. I could totally understand it if I have had it for a year, but it's barely even been 24 hours so it's incredibly frustrating.

My front screen has turned white completely 3 times usually when receiving a text. Also wouldn't turn back on a couple of times while on a call and removed from face. On 2nd phone in 6mo.

I'm on my third in the span of 3 weeks. :/ 2 within the same week! I think I'm going to have to send it back and just wait for the BlackBerry Tour 2/Essex to come out even though I hate the keys.

Do you know what version of software is in your phone? To find the version of software to to Settings> Phone Info> SW/HW Version... On the first line of the SW/HW Window is the Version Number "VX11K07" e last two digits gives you your software version... "07" would indicate version 7... If you don't have version 7 and you have a Corporate Verizon store near by you can take it to them to update your phone. You can also access a software updating program from:

Let me know what happens... This isn't typical of LG, and I am sorry for the inconvenience.

This is disapointing.... I love the enV Touch, but I don't blame you!

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in the future!

Unfortunately, I already sent it back to Verizon via FedEx today. If it had only done it on the first device then that would have been alright, but the fact that I've had three of them in a row do the same exact thing and no one can seem to help me (even with the updated software) is very troubling. I'm hoping that my Voyager will be able to last me for a little while and maybe the problem will be fixed by the time I consider upgrading again. The only thing that'll push me to upgrade as soon as I can is the fact that the battery in my poor Voyager dies within two hours now. It's a veteran.

And VZW was kind enough to waive the restocking fee since I've practically lived at their store for the past 3 weeks!

it sounds like Verizon has a pretty good customer service policy? LG has a great one also, they are the quickest at saying im sorry..too bad thats about as far as they go,this is only my experience with them, some of the people that are employed by lg say they had great service,so maybe it was just me,im not an employee, no offense to the employees. hope it works out for you,its makes a statement when the company works to rectify the issue.

To @caesar707 and @Moonlessnight I have experienced the EXACT same problems when someone would text me my screen would go from green to white and yellow. I took it to the store and they told me that they couldn't give me another phone for the simple fact that they couldn't see the problem and that phone was brand new. So now i have a refurbished phone which i didn't want and you know it's still doin the same thing from time to time, I love LG phones and i can't see myself with a diff brand. But they really need to fix this problem and fix the fact that T9 doesn't keep the words you type in, that alone pisses me off. I must say that i do love this phone but i hate that the screen just loves to change colors just for no reason and that the volume for my ringtones aint loud enough.

I got the LG Dare in Fall of 2007 and that was a great phone. Then one day it died on me... luckily I have insurance from Verizon. My replacement Dare recently died as well, and my insurance company no longer carries the Dare, so they put me on the EnV Touch. This is a great phone... only I've now replaced it twice. I'm new to these forums and was looking to see if anyone had the same problem as me. Looks like I'm not alone in this one. Sigh. I don't know what to do. I was hoping someone would have a solution. Everytime I call in to my insurance company they stay on the phone with me for about 20 min and end up just sending me a new phone. I'm tired of calling them only to have to switch phones AGAIN. I'm really fed up with these LG phones breaking down.

I understand your concerns and LG is addressing these issues. We have revamped our Quality Processes and implemented new processes to reduce the issues that have been seen in the field.

Have you tried calling LG support to get the phone repaired not just swapped out for another phone that's possibly a little older. You can reach them at: (800) 793-8896

I appreciate you posting these comments, even though it's a little discouraging. These comments are given to Development and go all the way to Korea for there review. This is why processes are being changed and added so we can address any quality issues.

Let me know what Support does.
