Thanks Pro. I take full responsibilty for not waiting on the official release. I just wanted a less laggy phone. Unfortunately for me I now have a more laggy phone. Again my fault however I do wish there was a way to go back a version or at least put v8 over v9.thanks again for all you are doing for us.

I'll look into what might be causing the Lag... If everyone would keep me updated on there experience with Ver 8 (Or above) It would be helpful.

Ok Pro,
I got the update about 8AM and after the update I noticed the Corprate calendar. How ever its been a couple of hours not and I've only gotten one calendar update from the 3rd of july. I tried to refresh but no dice still only getting one of my hundreds of appointments. I tried to remove and readd my account and still only the one appointment. Is there something I'm missing?

So far with Ver 8, I'm seeing a slightly "snappier" response from the phone. Nothing that's making me say "wow", but in general the phone seems a bit more responsive and it is noticable. One issue I'm not liking is the Cell Standy - Time without signal percentage I'm experiencing after the update this AM. Already posted on this in another thread and I know you're aware LG Pro. My battery is definitely taking a hit today as I'm seeing decreased life from my normal day-to-day use I experienced before the update. Can't pinpoint the update as the culprit, but don't know what else would be causing it.

The Update should be helping the Battery life not hurting... I'd give it a day or so and see how it goes... We can also try the "Old and Tired" troubleshooting step of pulling the Battery for a minute or so and then replacing it. This does a Soft reset and forces the phone to reacquire the Cell Towers.

Let me know how it goes!

Yes I'm seeing a SYnc issue as well... Let me look into it. I have reported this.

Welcome to the Forum! Are you referring to the "Time without Signal" topic that's been brought up? When you go to Settings and then Battery Use and select Call Standby, it will display a window Showing how long the phone has been on and the percentage of time the Phone is without a signal. I have a associate who has the Droid-X and we compared this value and it's the same on his Motorola... So I'm not sure what it's relevance and since both of the phones work fine I don't think it's an issue.

Sorry if this isn't what you are referring to.

The correlation is that both phones are running 2.1. It is a well documented issue with Version 2.1 of the Android OS. It has been fixed in 2.2

Would I know if I received this update? I don't recall being prompted yet for something. What happens if I don't get the update OTA?

The update really didnt solve anything just brought on new problems and some more bloatware in my eyes! My time without a signal is still the same, useing 25% of the battery in 1 and a half hours after i unplug it and didnt hardly use it btw, without a signal was at 85% then, it started going down to 36% before it died 12 hours later! Plus i've noticed my emails are like 10-20 minutes late sometimes so who knows if i'm missing phone calls as well as texts messages. I don't really care about the new calender as I'm old school i write it down in an appointment book but I need my email on time to do that! Just what i noticed so far! Hopefuly it gets better soon as I like the phone or I'm going back to my trusty old BB at least i got my emails on time and did'nt have to charge it twice daily!

Well, the Corporate Calendar was "iffy" ... you can't count on it to display all events all of the time ... and now my email has stopped working. Every time I try to open an email the application/process shows an error and stops ... so, V8 has made my phone useless to me other than phone calls ... which I could do with any old phone ... nice update ...

Pulled the battery last evening for a few minutes. I have noticed that since the update forced the install of Backup Assistant, this app runs nearly all the time (for syncing I assume). We really should have a way to uninstall this - especially those of us who are using our Google account for contacts, etc. I've been running pretty good without a task killer, but after manually killing BA, it persists to keep running ALL day. I'm not sure what it's doing exactly when it's running, but if it's contributing to the decline in battery life, not good.

What can we do if we have not received this update? I don't believe I have.

Just to add to my frustration over this latest update from Verizon, I attempted to access the Market about 10 minutes ago. I got another program/process error indicating that is would be stopped. Then, market opened up and proceeded as one would expect. I never had a single problem with my Ally prior to this last update ... I wish that I could remove it until things are stable ... Next time I'll press "later" and see what happens on the forums before I install an update!

You can check the version of software you have installed on your phone by going to Settings>> and then at the bottom of the list choose "About Phone" Next scroll all the way to the bottom and you'll see a number like "VS740ZV6" the last digit tells you what version you are running. If the last characters are "V8" then you have version 8.

If you haven't received the update, it should happen anytime... Verizon is delivering by Region.
