I'm sorry to see the issues you are experiencing with the Ally. Over all we have had good success with the Ally... However there have been a couple of reports of some issues we are looking but nothing of this severity... If you would like to contact me off forum that's cool as well... Webmaster@lgforum.com For you to have had 5 bad Ally's in a row is disturbing and I'm trying to figure out why you are seeing the problems you state. * Can you tell me what City/State you are currently using the Ally in? * Do you know how much free memory the Ally is reporting to have available when they start acting up? * Are you able to send any text messages or doe it happen on all messages sent and received? * Are you, by chance, an old Alltel customer who was converted to Verizon? when the merged? Please let me know if there is anything else you can think of that might help... I will look into things on this end this evening. |

I have had trouble with an Ally I picked up about three weeks ago. What I found was that it would lock up when trying to read emails, or texts when the radio signal was very low. After it would re-boot, it would work for a few messages, then lock and re-boot again. Verizon had me pull the battery and res-start it. I don't know if the problem is cured as I haven't gone back to the marginal coverage area. It was also an area where I was roaming on USCellular. |

I also have the issue of the sporadic freezing up, even when I try to power down. I have to take out the battery to restart the whole thing. I am WILLING to live with that if I could only check my voicemails!!! EVERY TIME I get a voicemail, I press the DIAL PAD button to enter my passcode and it BLACKS OUT!!! Every time my finger gets close to the dial pad, it goes blank and does not register me pressing on the screen. It does this each and every time I check my voicemails. I got my replacement phone tonight and guess what?? It is doing the exact same thing. I find no setting for sensitivity for the dial pad or phone in general. What are the odds that both phones are doing this to me? I would love to keep the phone but am extremely frustrated with it. I have had the Envy and the Voyager and have loved both. I am ready to switch to a non-LG phone if this issue doesn't get fixed. Any help would be appreciated. |

Humm it almost sounds like you finger is passing close to the "Proximity" sensor which is supposed to "Blank" the screen when it detects that the phone is close to your Face to conserve power. I have had mine do this to me as well. If you look at the top right of your display you will seea Small dot (Sensor) just to the Right of the Verizon logo and if you pass your hand over it you display will go black... It was kind of frustrating for me since they are normally on the left side, I wasn't prepared for it. But when I realized what it was, I just approach the screen froma little different angle and it works... If you dial something like Voicemail or *228 where you get a Voice menu you can play with the Sensor to see if it is indeed the cause of your issue. |

If anyone is an old "Alltel" customer that has ported their number over to Verizon, this could be an issue and is something that is being addressed in the new Update that is in Testing.... If any of our Ally users don't mind, could you let me know so I can see who might be experiencing this. Thanks. |

I haven't had this exact problem, but my new Ally doesn't always respond to touching the touch screen. Sometimes I have to try several times before it will power off completely, and at other times I have to touch the screen repeatedly to get the "key" to respond. |

Yes that can be frustrating, but even an "Annoyance" can sour your perception of the device. Assuming you are experienced I'm sure you're aware of the effect of multitasking and low memory conditions causing the phone to pause, hesitate and not respond to Button presses or finger swipes in a timely manner. If you are new to Android and or the Ally then I would just mention a couple of things to look for that might effect performance. If you have tried these suggestions and they haven't helped then possibly you have a bad screen on your Ally and need to contact Verizon Support or LG Support. But first try these steps... * Restart BUT before launching any Applications, see if the phone is more responsive. * Under Settings>> "SD Card & Phone Storage" at the bottom check to see how much FREE internal Memory you have available... If you get below 20MB Available, you'll probably start having issues. * Uninstall some larger applications to free up memory. * With the phone powered ON... Pull the battery and leave it out for a minute before replacing and rebooting. Before launching any Applications, see if the phone is more responsive. * Before calling Customer Service, you might consider doing a Hard Reset on the phone. Make sure you back it up first or have your Data Synced with Google, Calendar, Email, and Contacts... Hard Resetting the phone WILL restore the phone back to the way it was from the factory so you will have to Setup everything again and reinstall your Downloaded applications. Let me know if you have any other questions, and please be careful if you do decide to do a Hard Reset... It's not too fun restoring everything that you have set up. :-) |

I have had the same problems with my Ally. I absolutely love the device when it is working, but it has been frustrating at times. |

I am a former Alltel customer and am experiencing the same problem. I got my new LG Ally on 24 July and it started freezing the next day. I returned the phone for another, same model, on 28 July and it has since frozen several times. |

I forgot to mention that I got another phone, same model, for my girlfriend at the same time I got mine. She got a new number and her phone has not experienced the same problems. |

Since removing ATK my phone performance has improved tremendously. My battery lasts way longer and freeze ups are not very frequent anymore, and therefore less frustrating. |

I am rapidly losing my patience with this phone. At times it will work great, then when you really need to use it it takes almost a minute to unlock the phone and make a phone call! Sometimes I just want to throw it out the window and go buy a new phone. When I first got the phone it was mostly random reboots which were the problem, annoying but you can live with them. The phone was a little sluggish, but never so slow that you wondered if it didn't recognize that you touched it. I improved this by removing ATK, Antivirus and running LauncherPro. With all this I was able to keep my free memory in the 50-70 MB range. I've never been able to run live wallpapers (frankly they shouldn't even be an option on this phone). From day one I've never been able to go more than 8 hours without charging, less if I actually use it as a smart phone (web, misc apps). This being my first smart phone I chalked that up to it being a smart phone. I was upset that I was mislead that I could sync my Exchange calendar on the phone, but was assured that it would be fixed soon and didn't have to return the phone. The big motivating factor for me getting this phone was that I could combine my work and personal events and action items into one place/tool. |
