I just switched over from AT&T after about 2 years of horrible service and was so glad to come to verizon and find an android phone that was in my budget with a nice qwerty keyboard. I loved my phone for one whole day before I got to work and it started freezing and turning off on me in the middle of text message or sometimes when I wasn't touching it at all. Since then I have taken it back three times, I am currenly on my fourth phone in less than 2 weeks, and I am about ready to give up on LG devices. I really enjoy the phone and its features but I can't live with the phone constantly freezing and rebooting. Especially when I am at work and my office which is quiet and then you hear my phone opening tone come time and time again. It doesn't happen as often when I'm at home but it does happen. I work in one state and live in another. I don't think it is a memory issue because the previous 2 phones I have had less than a day and haven't had time to download any apps on them. I find it hard to believe that I have gotten 4 phones from three different states, and they all have the same problem within one day of starting to use them. I see other people have posted but I just wanted to know if it was a location thing or if any head way has been made on fixing the problem. I would appreciate any response quickly because I am at my wits end and I'm at the point where I either change services or change devices and I would hate to let go of this device over one problem. |

What part of the country are you in? I have seen a few of these but mostly I have seen them in the Eastern US. I think the Engineers have a 'handle' on what's happening and are working on an update that will be delivered Over the Air (OTA) to the Allys. |

I am located in the south. I used the phone all weekend long in Mobile, Alabama and it didn't freeze. But when I came back to work this morning in Mississippi, it has already frozen and restarted 3 times over the last hour. |

Very interesting, I'll pass this info on. Thanks for the update... When the rebooting starts happening, have you tried pulling the Battery for a minute or so? I'm wondering if clearing the temporary memory will help. |

I had the same problem this weekend. I live in the Milwaukee area and have no problem with my Ally here. This weekend I was on vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and my phone was constantly freezing up and rebooting. It would happen while I was texting, so I thought that was it at first. But then it would lock up at other times too. And even when I wasn't using it, I would hear it reboot itself. My daughter also has an Ally and she was not having a problem with hers. |

I have a similar issue. My phone would not let me access e-mail, text messages, photos, calendars, app store, and many other items without returning to the home screen after30 seconds of "thought". This condition had be building over the past couple weeks. I finally turned off the phone last night and the condition went away, at least for now. Is this necessary to "re-boot" the phone occasionally? I could not even open Task Killer or Settings to turn off apps that may be running. |

I'm beginning to think it has to do with when the phone is in an extended service area. I think this phone hard sets whether to use 3G or 1G depending on your local provider. I'm from NYC where I have full 3G and have never had a problem with this phone. Now I'm out here in Western MD near W. Va. and running on 1G, the phone has frozen and restarted at least 15 times in the last 72 hours. |

I do think it has something to do with location as well. Cause I went the whole weekend, 3 days at home with no problems, but as soon as I arrive at work it begin to restart and shut off when it wants to. But at times at work it acts fine. I wish I had a long time for them to fix this problem since I do truly like the phone, but I don't. And since I spend 8 hours plus and five days a week on my job, I need my phone to work while I am at work. If I don't have a resonable solution to the problem in the next week or two I am going to have switch phones, unfortunately... |

Interesting input.... I'm hoping to get some help but I don't think I'll have answers that soon, but I'll try. |

Hey Pro, I have a thought on this. Since you're seeing a lot of this in the south and east I believe that Relative Humidity may have a hand in this issue. I know that when I had my Ally it worked great when I first got it (late June). It started to have issues mid to late July. We also had a weather switch here (Utah) around that time it got very humid and hot. My job was outdoors. My wife has the Ally her job was indoors. Air conditioning tends to dry the air out (unless it's a swamp cooler, but business buildings don't use those). So her phone was always in a relatively dry environment where mine was out in the humid air. Mine had issues hers didn't. Most of the places I've seen listed, when you ask where these users are, are places with high RH. Leads me to believe Ally doesn't like humid environments. |

That's an interesting thought... I'm passing the regional data on to development as I get it, I'm hoping it will be of some use. Your report is only the 2nd on I've seen from the western half of the country, I'm curious if that has anything to do with it. Looks like Utah is going to get more moisture later this week :-) |

Honestly yes. If you can still get the Moto Droid you should. If not get the Droid 2. |

I apologize for the delay and the lack of information, this is an evolving situation, and I just can't get a time frame yet. If the Ally isn't currently working out for you, then I can understand you needing to switch. I wish I could give you a date or even an estimate as to when these issues will be resolved, but I just don't have that information. I hate to see you leave LG and the Ally, but if replacing the unit didn't help then changing phones might be your best option... Let me know if there are any other questions. |
