Hello, I just got my LG Ally a couple of days ago and it was working fine until it randomly decided not to send or receive text messages. I know this for a fact as my friend sent me texts and on his phone they said it was delivered but on my phone I didn't receive it. Any advice? Thanks in advance. |

Are you, by chance, an old Alltel customer with rolled over to Verizon? I have seen that possibly cause issues... * What % of messages will it not send or Receive? * Have you tried pulling the Battery to see if that helps at all (Temporary Fix) * Does it seem to happen in all locations or are you having problems in one location... I'm looking into a similar Txting issue... Please let me know. |

I'm seeing some texting issues with old Alltel numbers that have been ported to Verizon, but nothing to this extent. I would first contact Verizon support just to verify all the settings are correct for txting on the Ally. If they confirm it's nothing to do with the network then all I can think to do now is to exchange the phone... This is strange. Sorry for the Inconvenience. |

It's alright and can you give me instructions on how to take off the back? It's giving me trouble and I will probably just exchange the phone. Thanks for the help. |

Sure, Getting the back off and getting the Battery out are a little tricky... Once you've pulled the back off a time or two it gets easier. The latch to hold the back in place is towards the bottom of the phone right below the LG Logo by the Horizontal bump on the back of the phone. I live in a dry climate so I generally have to get my fingers a little moist and then dry them just so I'll have the Traction that I need. The real tricky part is getting a feel for where the 'Latch' is and where to press to release it... I Press on the LG Logo firmly and slid the Back cover towards the top of the phone... Towards the Camera. It only has to move about 1/4" and it will release... You will feel it when it releases. Gently pull the back off to reveal the Battery. I use some type of firm plastic like the edge of a credit card and I wedge it down between the Top portion of the battery, in the Indent that is intended to use to get a hold of the edge of the battery, and the Battery it's self. Apply a little leverage and the battery will pop up so you can remove it... You can tell it doesn't want to come out, but It's better to have it tight than to have a loose and not make a good connection. Leave the battery out for about a minute and then replace it... Replacing the battery is a little easier. Just put the battery in the LOWER portion first and make sure it is pressed down towards the floor of the battery compartment and then gently push it towards the lower edge of the battery compartment and the top should just pop in. |
