Thanks every one for your patience in waiting for LG's response on the Ally's status with the Android 2.2 upgrade. This statement is short and sweet.

"The LG Ally will be upgraded to Froyo with the timeline to be confirmed at a later date."

WooHoo!!

Well thanks for putting up with all of our anxiety. I'm happy about the Ally seeing Froyo. With that said, if they have to strip out anything, I really hope it's Flash that goes.

LG Product Pro,

Since the phone is, in fact, going to be updated...what do you suppose I should do if I want external album art to work in this next release?

I'm happy with the answer and the information we have. I'm in no rush in getting it as long as it, is right when we do get it. I would perfer the full verison, but will be happy if it does not have flash support in it.

Great news. For those wondering if flash will make it....I can all but promise it won't. There just isn't enough processing power on the Ally, or rather if they don't cut it out it will perform horribly.

Pro, you may want to tell the Dev team to take their time with this and make sure they do it completely right. Right now Motorola and Verizon have their hands full because they pushed 2.2 to the Droid without full testing and now they are having to rebuild the ROM from scratch and dealing with a TON of problems including a small - moderate number of phones being bricked by the OFFICIAL update.

The original Droid has started to get Android 2.2 and based on some of the threads i've read over at AndroidForums Droid forum, flash is not even included in the Android 2.2 update. It just gives you the ability to install Flash 10.1. If that is true, than LG doesn't even need to strip Flash out of Android 2.2 because it doesn't appear that it's a part of the update.

Flash is not built into 2.2. Flash 10.1 is still in the Beta Stage for Android (beta 3 at the moment). Flash 10.1 support is built into 2.2. But like we've seen with some apps and the V9 update they can filter apps based on the phone. So, they can just filter Flash 10.1 so it's not available for Ally.

This is good news! I like the Ally more and more as I use it - probably because I also loved the original price! It will be nice to be able to have the advantages of Froyo soon!

Puzzling... My album Art is working. But like every other music player I have on the PC or other devices there seems to be some Art that won't work.

Is all of your Artwork not showing up? How does it look on your PC?

Let me know.

I don't have it on the PC like this. I'm planning to create a whole separate library for the phone encoded at a lower bitrate. So I created several test cases and found the following:

1. Album art stored as AlbumArt.jpg or albumart.jpg do not show up on the Ally, despite what documentation says.
2. Album art stored this way do show up in the Android 2.1 emulator.
3. Album art stored internally via ID3 works.
4. I am using Ogg Vorbis (for bitrate efficiency) but Android doesn't support storing album art internally in that format.
