I got my Ally Wednesday and Friday when I went to take a picture of my sister's pug it showed up fine before I actually took the picture, but after I took the picture it and looked at it in my gallery all that it was was a picture of a lot of colored lines. Could I have gotten a virus or is the camera damaged? |

So...I am wondering if anyone else experiences this: I go to hit the designated "camera button" on the side of the ally, and when I push it, often my phone decides to reboot....???? It does not happen every time, but did several times when I wanted to use my camera last night. Anyone? |

I went into VZW today and the salesman said that someone came in with the same problem yesterday. He said to format the SD card. So I have transferred the pics off to the computer and I will be attempting to format the SD card. |

I had the same problem. Powered down and immediately restarted. It's fine now. |

I agree... think what you are seeing is "Digital Noise" and would most likely be coming from the Camera It's self. Let me know how the situation progresses. |

I am having the same issue with my Ally as the OP. I returned it to the Verizon store within a week ofbuying it, and the tech spent about 30 minutes doing a hard reset of the phone. It worked to solve the problem initially, but the problem keeps recurring. Thus far, a simple power down and restart of the phone has fixed it, however, I am just about ready to return the phone, as taking pictures is one of the main things I do with my phone. And I reach for it to take a pic of my little guy and then this happens and by the time the phone is reset, the moment is gone ... The worst of it is, it looks fine on the screen, and since the phone does not preview the saved picture (a feature I actually like since it allows for faster time between shots) you don't realize it has happened til you go into the photo gallery. I also HATE the shutter lag on this phone. You may wonder why I didn't then buy a better camera, but I had a Voyager and then a Xenon and LOVED the cameras on both (the video on the Voyager wan't the best, but the camera was great). The Xenon ook phenomenomal photos from day one. Fast and clear in nearly any light. Oh yeah, the Ally also tends to only take truly good pics in very good lighting or very dark conditions, in the middle it either overlights or leaves things in shadow. The Xenon NEVER did this in the year + I used it for taking pics (thousands) of the first year of my luvbug's life.

Having just reviewed the pics on my new phone (already 500 - since the 9th) I must say, they are quite clear except in low light when as I said they are consistently either too bright (from the flash) or underlit (from the flash not being engaged) ...

Sorry, I don't see an edit button or I'd just add this to my previous post, I also meant to say the gallery is FAR superior to the one on either the Voyager or Xenon, much easier to see what date you're on, although I suppose I should actually put in my old SD card with the billon pics before I say that for sure ;-} |

The lines in your photo look like "Digital Noise" but I don't know what is causing this... If it continues I would see about getting the phone Repaired or Replaced, this isn't normal. Switching between Apps, like on the Xenon? It's easy on the Ally, at any point other than when the Camera is active, you can press and hold the "Home Key" down and a list of 6 running apps or recently used Apps will appear and you can jump to any of those apps and then back to where you were. Also just pressing the Home Key will take you out of an App without quitting it, and then you can do whatever you need and then jump back into the original app at the same point you were at. To end an App, press the Back Arrow and it will close the app. There are a lot "Task Killers" out in the Android Market, I'm currently using "Advanced Task Killer" ... Just be careful and don't set it to be too aggressive. Right now there is a big debate on whether using Task Killers is a good idea or not. |

Oh, I also wanted to suggest that you do turn the Auto Review feature on for a little bit to see if this will help detect when the camera misbehaves. |

The camera on my daughter's phone is not working properly. When she tries to use it, the message "Activity camera (in application camera) is not responding. Any thoughts to how to remedy this problem without completely resetting her phone? |

Not good... Try pulling the battery while the phone is ON, but not charging. Wait a few seconds replace the Battery and Power up. Now try the Camera. If the camera still fails, A factory reset would be the next step.... Unfortunately. Make sure you back up her contacts and personal data. Once the reset is done and you add your Gmail account to the phone, then try the camera again before you go any further. If the camera still fails, I think your best bet is to contactVerizon or LG support about getting the phone repaired / replaced. Verizon can be reached at (800) 922-0204 and LG at (800) 793-8896. |

I'm having the same error "Activity camera (in application camera) is not responding". I tried the above fix of removing the battery while the phone is on. After replacing the battery and powering up, when I try to use the camera it tries to start the camera and then returns to the main screen with error "Cannot connect to camera". I guess the next step is a phone reset? |

If you don't have any Apps installed to the Ally that you think might interfere with the camera, then Unfortunately, I think that's the best thing to try next. |
