I am up for my new every two upgrade next week and am considering the Env 3. I know of three people personally who have had the random shut off issue that is widely reported. I have seen where a software upgrade was supposed to have fixed this. Can anyone shed some light on this? |

This software update did address power cycling issues. I personally use this phone most often and have enjoyed its reliability and features. |

I just upgraded mine to the software version VX920V05 and it's still shutting down randomly, sometimes as often as 7 times per day. |

I gave up waiting on LG to do something. They replied with "we recommend taking the phone to your service provider and having them update to the newest version of the software." Duh. I already updated the software to V05, and it still shuts down, as I had already explained to them in my email. |

Got the like-new replacement phone yesterday. And I have to admit it is really like-new. Actually in better condition than the one I'm sending back to them, but not much better. |

Well, it's been a few days now and no shutoffs. I guess maybe my phone was a lemon. |

Well, the replacement was good for a while, but now it's started shutting off randomly as well. |

While not the exact problem I'm having, it's related to it. When I first got the phone, there was an update available, on the 25th. I didn't know what to do to accept, and I inadvertly rejected it. When I go to check for updates, it doesn't find any. Any help? |

You can't update the phone's software wirelessly. You have to get the USB/Charger cable (should've came with the phone) and go to LG's website and look under the support section for the enV3 and download the updater. Then before plugging the USB cable into your computer, run the update program, it will automatically install the USB cable drivers, and then it will ask you to plug your phone in to the computer. When you do that, it will verify everything is ok, then it will download and install the newest software version and then reboot your phone. There is a warning on this updater that you may lose all your personal data (contacts, pictures, music, etc) after the update is completed, but I've updated mine twice now (first to V05 then to V06), and I haven't lost anything. Good luck! Or if you don't want to do all of that, you can just drop your phone off at just about any Verizon store and tell them you want the software updated. And I think they do it for free. If there is a charge for this, it's probably not a lot. But I think it's free. |

To answer the original poster. No, even the latest software update V06 still has not resolved the power cycling issue on the enV3. |

How many times did u have to get the env3 replaced before getting the option of another model phone? I have an env touch thats been doing the same thing as far as turning off, freezing, rebooting, and terrible battery life and have gone through 3 phones within the past 3 weeks so I was checking to see what other options I might have. |

Well the customer service guy (the first person you talk to when calling customer service) told me I had to have it replaced with the same model twice before they would consider replacing it with a different model. So the third replacement can be a different model, but even then you have to ask them for it, or they won't volunteer it. But the thing is, I had only had mine replaced once with the same model, and then the second replacement was with the Dare. So either they Customer Service guy didn't know what he was talking about, or they made an exception because they know that my problem was a known problem with the enV3, and there was no point in replacing it again with the same model. But they wanted to give me an Alias2, but I asked them if I could pick whatever phone I wanted as long as it was basically the same price. And they said ok. You just have to kind of be a little insistent with them. You can't just take their first offer, if you know what I mean. Kinda like buying a car. lol But it was the tech support people who made the decision for me to replace it with different model, and allowed me to choose what model I wanted. So don't argue with the first guy you talk to too much, because he's not the one who will make the decision. He will just transfer you to technical support so they can "troubleshoot" your problem. It's those guys who will be able to make the decision to give you a different model. I hope that helps. |

No charge for software update! Just had mine done, the VX902V06, to be exact, series of software is out, apparently just released on the 25th or 26th of January. Thanks for the info, didn't realize you could update it from the LG Website. Will check back occasionally for updates. |

Obviously the 06 software has not cured the random shut off's. I took my phone to the Verizon store and they confirmed the latest software, did a *228 and then patted me on the head and wished me a good day. On on the way home from the store the phone shut off. It has done it several times since which I find completely unacceptable. When will someone accept responsibility for the phone (LG or Verizon) and create a fix for it? |

Yeah, I had Version 6 on mine too and it didn't help. And I guess I'll go back to my previous "I'll never buy an LG product again" rant, because I'll be recieving my third Dare tomorrow. lol On my first, the Mobile Email shortcut quit working for some reason, and the tech support couldn't figure it out, so they replaced it. On my second one, the screen separated a little in the middle. And so you can see the fluid inside. It looks like oil, all rainbow colored. Apparently the way a resistive touch screen works is there are actually two thin screens sandwiched together, and there is some kind of fluid between them. Normally it's so tight that you can't see the fluid, but the screen is messed up so I can see it. And occaisionally the touchscreen just won't respond at all to my touch. Hopefully the third phone will be fine. We'll see. I wish Verizon would switch to Samsung or Nokia or some other brand as their flagship, so they could get the top of the line phones from those companies, instead of the rejects, and move LG to the back burner. That iPhone and AT&T are really starting to tempt me at this point. |

I, too, have had this problem with the EnV3. I've had the update just two weeks ago. Still shutting off. What is bad is I work for a retailer that sells these phones, and have recommended them constantly. Before mine started acting up. Now I steer people away. I'm going to the Verizon store Monday and camping out until they give me something that isn't LG. This is my first and last LG. |

Interesting about the color....my son has a blue one and his started shutting down about 5 times a day after he had it about 3 months. I have a maroon one and has never shut down. MY problem is the echoing of my voice about 50% of the time when talking to non Verizon customers. It's very aggravating!!!! I have version V02 and so does he. Maybe we should do the updates?? |
