Negative those posts are not LG employees, and everyone on this forum has their right to an opinion thats why we have this forum. LG is aware of the T9 issues and is looking into them. As soon as I hear something I will let you know.

Hey LG Product Pro. My friend doesn't have internet access at the moment and wanted me to ask if you have heard any more info on this yet?

I appreciate the feedback. LG is aware of the issue and is addressing it. Stay tuned.

there has been many (4 firmware) releases for the env3. phone is still not fixed. many volume issues speakers, speaking, the music and ringtones have issues but most of all is the t9 memory. this phone is as big as the bb pearl. if i wanted a keyboard i wouldve bought a phone that just had that.

i just called LG and they are not commenting. they will not admit that there is an issue until you talk to them for a while and say that youve read all about the issue then they say they are addressing it bu tthe details are "confidential".

yes, the... man who helped me actually said confidential.

they will not say if env3's t9 is supposed to remember words. all they will do is tell you that you can fix it by "abc then switch" but that only works for the current text. if they would say anything they would have to take phones back or refund all of them so i think theyre hoping most people just deal. personally im not willin to, i will be going back by the end of my return time to get a different companies phone.

does the env3 really suck? no i want t9 memory and honestly the treatment i have recieved from LG (call 9/23 at 4:21 am est duration 15 min 21s) sucked.

their protocol on answering questions about this issue has turned me off of them. this would be my 6th LG phone. i have purchased only one other brand (motorola) and got rid of it for the env2 (my previous phone). hope things change.. doesnt look promising.

Well of course LG doesn't want to admit that there is a problem. No company wants to come out and admit an issue with a product. The so called "fix" is just a temporary work around and really isn't a "fix" at all. I don't own this phone, but a couple of my friends do now even after telling them not to buy it. They are frustrated like you about this issue and want LG to fix it! The only thing we the people can do is continue to post here and call in and complain. The thing is this issue doesn't bother every enV Touch user, but if every user that this does bother called LG up on the same day about this maybe that would put some pressure on LG to fix it. That's a big maybe though... lol. Thanks for some more info on this since we haven't heard a peep from LG Product Pro on this issue for awhile. I will relay this message to my friends. What is the best number to call LG at so I can give the number to my friends?

The EnV Touch does have so many great features. With an extensive T9 dictionary, along with a notepad that you can write your text on the home screen. Adding words to the T9 dictionary was not included in the development of this phone. This is why we have this forum though so that we can relay suggestions right along with information that we find in the field. Cost and other factors come into the development of a handset. We will see if this feature is changed in a future sw development.

Why and when does LG plan on fixing this issue of the T9 not working with the envy 3? I have had LG phones for many years and I never had an issue. The envy was a great phone and mine took a beating and continued to work flawlessly. Now that I got the envy 3 I can't stand the fact that the T9 doesn't work. Why won't LG fix this problem?? With so many other brands available out there can LG afford to lose customers in this uncertain economy. Unless they just don't give a care about their customers and if that is the situation than maybe everyone should just boycott all LG products.

We ablsolutely care about our customers. I noticed around the web that a lot of people were concerned about the T9 dictionary. I will be interested to see if it is possible.

I have been reading that on Oct. 31st there is going to be a software update for the enV line which will coincide with the launch of a massive amounts of apps. No other information is included as to what may or may not be fixed with the update.

"there has been many (4 firmware) releases for the env3."
Actually, not the case. The original firmware was 03, not 01. So ... as of today, 04 and 05 = 2.

"No company wants to come out and admit an issue with a product."
Ultimately, this business model fails. Can you say ... "GM" !

The business model of the cell phone manufacturers and carriers appears to be this:
"Sure, we will fix those problems ... in the NEXT phone, which oh, btw ... you WILL want to $$Upgrade$$ to, because it will have some new super must have cool features."

I brought my phone into verizon last weekend and they told me there was an update to fix the T9 texting memory problem. So, they updated my phone... my phone remembered a word ONCE and never again. Now I am having additional problems with my phone. My screen goes blank every couple of days. What is going on? I have never had so much trouble with a phone in my life! Why can't this be fixed? Other LG phones don't have this problem so it's not like they have to create the wheel. I am very unhappy with this phone and would recommend everyone to stay away. I was much happier with the versa. Unfortunately that was stolen and I thought I was upgrading when I got the env Touch. Boy was I wrong!

Excellent question. My friends who own this phone said there were not many available. I own the Samsung Rogue and there is little available for it as well. I sent an email to Verizon about it a couple of weeks ago and they replied back by saying it's out of their control because it is developers who make and release the app.

I luv how people can't back anything of what they say on here up, n just try to completely defend these obviously overlooked features without any data to support them, or in this case choose to leave things out. I am willing to speculate that the two previous posters are nothing more than LG employees just from how they act!

FACT 1: Just b/c the phone has a full qwerty is IRRELEVANT! COMPLETELY! The Touch HAS the ability to text from the outside screen, as does the env3, but some people refuse to acknowledge that fact!

FACT 2: The Voyager titanium which is what the touch is built off of HAS the ability to learn words and is fully T9 capable! If your argument is that the touch has a QWERTY, I think I just shot that IRRELEVANT point down, and backed my point n everyone else with a FACT!

FACT 3: The Glance is NOT a qwerty phone and it can not learn T9 words. CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT?

FACT 4: The ability to learn T9 words has been a basic, and fundamental feature on LG phones for years, alot of people have already stated that, how and why would that be over looked? CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT?

FACT 5: I have proven in my first post that this problem has been known to LG for almost 9 months now, as was reported in Howard Fourms. I guess that information is beyond their comprehension, or they chose to IGNORE THAT FACT TOO! CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT FACT?

I challenge the two previous posters to back up their words with facts! " And your post brings nothing to the party! " either just unsupported irate talk!

I doubt that anyone, even an LG employee can dispute my facts, unlike some people I did do the research on this issue!

HAVE A NICE DAY!

I agree 100% with all of your assertions! I've been dealing w/this POS phone way beyond any acceptable limits of patience and CONSUMER-RIGHTS... say it again with my people; CONSUMER + RIGHTS! The complete absence of a real, honest answer about this issue in particular reeks of FRAUD in my book and in the law's book... It's clear that they've completely neglected the issue, yet have been advertising it as if the T9-capability was FULLY functional and working in this model, which it is NOT!

___I'm sorry but who actually uses/can use the outer screen for anything aside from a quick, 1-handed review of incoming msgs. When T9 is enabled for the outer screen *laughing hard*, it takes LONGER to T9 a basic sentence, than it does to manually do it with "abc!" This is a complete joke on us...

T9 isn't going to be "fixed" b/c it was NEVER enabled on this model in the 1st place. So a "fix" would actually be a complete rewrite of the firmware itself, which would probably conflict with other functions, so they've just covered it up with the (excuse) bait-&-switch technicality of "it works on the outer screen, thus it 'works...'" More legalese/corporate jargoning.

We've ALL been had about this issue and the many others, and here's a great place to PROVE that these commonly reoccurring issues take place:

http://verizonwireless.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1534522

I'm 100% NEVER EVER buying an LG product again, lol... As cliche as it sounds, WHO would trust LG's future product lines, when here you have a decent phone that's been completely NEGLECTED and left riddled with verifiable bugs and such? I'll never spend a penny lining the pockets of these rich corporate dregs. I mean come on... if you bought ANY other major appliance or electronical device (washer/drier/stove/microwave/TV etc.) and said device had as many bugs/non-working features as this phone's model-line: You would ALL be returning them immediately! But since it's a small, cutesy looking "toy" phone, people just take the abuse and remain sheepish and silent! I WILL NOT! They've ignored us and are laughing all the way to the bank.

BYE Lame-Garbage: Customer #3498394893284 is pulling the profit plug on my end... hopefully the rest of you will also.

I got two Samsung Rogues instead of buying these phones. My wife wanted one so bad, but I told her no with all the problems this phone has. Two of my friends have it and do nothing but complain about it. Mostly they complain about reboots/random shutdown/restarts even after upgrading to software version 5. Seriously have you looked at the recent reviews on the Verizon website. It use to be 4 stars and has dropped to 4 stars now.

I have a feeling most of our issues/complaints will be fixed, but not with this phone. LG will probably hold off and implement everything on the EnV Touch 2. However, by that time they may have pissed off so many consumers that there may not be anyone interested in buying the enV Touch 2 because they have scorned their name and reputation. In my opinion the first enV Touch was rushed before it was finished and I just dont see LG taking the time to dig into the software and re-write code for proper fixes. This is a shame since this phone has a lot of potential, but at times is a POS.

Also I have seen a couple of requests here for a list of fixes that software version 5 was suppose to provide. Has anyone seen one yet? My guess is that there is one, but LG doesnt want to provide it because people will complain about stuff on the list that was supposedly fixed, but is still not working correctly on the phone.

Haha sure ain't me he's talking about... I stand by my posts b/c they are TRUE and FACTUAL... Life's Good for LG executives, but not for its CUSTOMERS! Haha man I bet them old bastards are having a field day laughing and sneering at us cash-cattle, moo'ing away about how OUR phone's don't work, but theirs do. And if any of them have issues with their EnV3's, I BET someone fixed them right away... HAHA must be nice sitting on the top of the grassy hill, while us hogs muck around in the mud. REEEeeeeeeee OINK OINK! er MOO!

Looks like no lesson was learned by LG since the problem still exists, not to mention the Chocolate Touch suffers from the exact same problem of not being able to learn words from what the users on Howard Forum are posting. One would have figured since July 09 when LG finally stated that they were aware of the issue on these forums that it would have been addressed after over 4 months, guess they truly could care less about their customers who have been using their products for years with T9 dictionary able to add words.

All we been hearing from LG is either: " we are aware of it" or "we are looking into it". Of course we have always known LG was aware of it, but what is actually being done to address the problem if anything at all? Thats what we all would like to know instead of sidestepping the issue.

Needless to say if LG is going to continue this backwards stepping all the time, they will be bleeding customers! Unfortunately the lack of this feature, and more so the lines of BS that are fed to customers will and have an impact eventually once people get wise to the fact!

BTW the moto droid a full qwerty does have the ability to add words, and it always remembers them, not just for an hour or two. Once people know that LG phones have the T9 custom word dictionary crippled and all other phones don't, gonna be interesting to see how long LG will last as a real competitor.

Wake up LG! Simply side stepping the issue is not good customer service. LISTEN to your customers!

Have a great holiday!

Yeah I WISH! I watching this forum like an FBI agent watching a suspect locker at the airport... Nobody's coming to collect the cash yet. These people at this "corporation" don't give 1 single fsck about this phone, nor "us" the chattering-CATTLE! Again, they see us like a king and his royal court scoff at the anxious, festering mob of peasants outside the castle walls. They do NOT give 1 spit about our problems or else someone would have fixed this/recalled the phones by now.

Unlike Toyota and car companies; when a phone has some kind of major feature (purposely) missing or bug that prevents the full 100% ADVERTISED usage of the phone; do WE get a recall or some kind of consumer JUSTICE, FSCK NO! They just sweep it under the rug and LAUGH all the way to the bank as the stupid peasants CONTINUE to blindly support these charlatans and FRAUDSTERS!

LG is nothing but a shill, a front, another greed based conglomerate of Kings. OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

I've tried to be civil about this matter, but it's obviously not appropriate any long as they don't care to listen; I'll NEVER EVER buy an LG product again - COWARDS!

Screw being calm and civil any longer... The best hope any of you all can do is to google search your local state/city about a CLASS-ACTION lawsuit. A few have lready begun to gain momentum...

I'm glad that other people are spreading the world about this issue. This is hilarious, and embarrassing to the entire company. This issue happened on two phones which came out around the same time, which makes it excusable. But then it happened on another phone as well. You have acknowledged it on this forum and then released another product with the same flaw. It's clearly something that isn't easy to fix, either because of costs or hardware limitations.

If I had to guess it would be that the phone functions with an extremely tight amount of ROM memory and as a cost cutting measure there was no inclusion of a learning T9 database, but it was instead replaced with a flat dictionary file, with only a small amount of space for temporary learning (hence the Abc fix being temporary).

It really sucks. I don't know what to tell everyone, but I use my phone however I want, and for me, t9 is extremely fast, and I use the front screen for >90% of what I do with the phone. I can play my music while I walk to class (though the cumbersome 2.5" adapter sucks in 2010), I can text (most of what I do), and I can place/receive calls. That's really all I use my phone for.

I don't really take pictures with my phone, because when I press the camera button my phone will turn off instantly about 50% of the time. The camera will then work perfectly when it turns back on, but the moment is already lost... so thanks for that LG. I basically have a phone that has fewer features than my previous VX8350 which honestly was a great phone (besides the hinge issue which you lovingly fixed for free).

I don't know, I want to love this phone. It's a few firmware updates away. If it didn't turn off when I pushed the camera button & so often randomly in my pocket + t9 on the front worked... I would keep it until it broke. I'm not a smartphone guy, I just text a lot and find the form factor of the Closed Env3 and its durability to be perfect for my needs.
