So the support for the enV Touch was taken away apparently. You can no longer update even to the past software updates. The one I'm concerned about is V08, the newest, not yet released (kinda). It was out but I didn't get a chance to get it before it was taken down, along with everything else pertaining to the Touch.

Now my questions for the LG employees on this forum are:

1. Can we expects to see Touch support back up on the updater?
2. Might we get this V08 update?
3. Is this the end of support for the Touch?
4. Any word on the T9 problems?
5. Are you really an employee of LG? (Just wondering)

My last phone the LG Dare was just dropped from support after V06 without any kind of warning what so ever, and left with MANY unsolved problems. I'm extremely concerned that this will happen with the Touch, its an amazing phone and LG's loyal customers don't deserve that kind of treatment. Please someone put my mind at ease and tell me that this IS NOT THE END!

Thanks SO much in advance,
-Devin

I think the EnV Touch will return to the LG update software soon.

The Dare may be a moot point since it is now an older phone. I believe version 7 was the final firmware ever released for the dare?

I sure hope so! The last update for the Dare was V06, sadly most people on the Dare forum are STILL waiting for the V07 update. I have a friend who works for Verizon, when the Touch came out he told me that I wasn't going to see anymore updates so I switched. I'm just hoping that LG isn't going to make this a trend of offering these wonderful flagship phones and then not supporting them after 1 years time, & not fixing at least some if not all of the major bugs. Tisk Tisk! I was sooo disappointed in LG for that.

Nowadays the product cycle for most phones is two years. It is just like with electronics and computers, in order to drive sales the manufacturers always have to be able to offer something seemingly new and innovative. Most companies do not have the resources to continue to support all of their products with improvements as long as the devices are being used by the consumer. One exception, to an extent, is HP.

Even you bought a new phone after you found the Dare (released in 2008) would not continue to have firmware updates. Are you going to keep your Touch in 2011?

Look at the Voyager. After two years (came out in 2007) and the release of VX10KV12, the VX10000 will get no new firmwares. The touch screen, multimedia features and mobile TV were innovative at the time back in 2007. The TV function never took off, BTW, partially due to the fact that the service was never made widely available.

Anyway, the EnV Touch will probably continue to have firmware updates until the end of 2010, but then even the VX11000 will seem lame and blase compared to the cool new phones that will come out in 2011.

It is all a plan to get you, and me, to spend our money my friend. If it is fly, then you must buy, to parapharase Snoop Dog's Chrysler commercial.

The VX11000 has been put back on the LG updater list of supported phones for VX11KV07 (firmware v7).

See the only problem with that is the last update that was released for the dare (V06) came out on 01/29/2009. Only like 7 months after the phone came out. We're right around that 7 month time period with the touch, and I'm scared to death. I love this phone more then my last blackberry. The touch doesn't have 1/8 the problems and bugs they left the dare with, thats why I upgraded. And didn't they release the voyager twice, I think the titanium had extra features of some type, giving it double the life span.

I sure hope they do last all the up till the end of this year. Meanwhile I'm still waiting for a "LG employee" to respond to this post and answer my questions.

Oh and thank you for the update geishaslave
