Anyone else having trouble with their back and search buttons on each side of the LG logo??.. Mine seem harder to press especially when NOT in keyboard mode.... They work, but take quite a few pushes at times to find the right "spot"...

Are you talking about the "Capacitive" Buttons below the Screen? I find that my Hands get really dry and sometimes I think that causes some of my issues... Or maybe I'm just dead and not generating any electrical charge to trigger the buttons.... That would be a bummer.

Let me know if you see any other patterns, Something that will be easier to pass on.

I haven't had this issue on mine. Actually respond well to light touch. Do you have a screen protector on the phone that covers the entire glass screen area?

I left the stock shipment protector on at first for a bit, and noticed the screen didn't respond very well. Moved to another one that just covered the viewable screen area (display of OS), and I didn't like the response of that one either (this was purchased in a three-pack at Verizon). Now I'm running the screen naked and all is well. These screens have come a long way IMO. The one on my Ally is way better than the one on my old Dare.

Should have added that the more smudged the screen seems to get, it doesn't respond quite as well.

I do have a full cover protector on mine... I never tried it without one cause history tells me to cover it as soon as it comes out the box... heh... Could be something for me to look at though...

Maybe custom cut one to just leave the buttons uncovered? Not the best solution as it would be good to know if these are inhibiting the buttons for sure.

I'd like something to cover the entire screen myself, but don't care for the "shiny" ones.

I have found that the back and search buttons barley work with a screen protector on.
They work each and every time with out one. And they are very responsive.
I use the back button far to much to have it not be responsive so currently I am not using a screen protector.

i use a screen protector and find that occasionally multiple touches must be used. However I also find that a sliding motion over the button works EVERYTIME.

I went through 2 screen protectors yesterday.
Swipping didn't work for me. It was hit or miss.

I've hesitated putting one on my Ally. I hate to have an unprotected screen but I don't want to loose functionality. One of my reps here echoed the concerns that the Back and Search buttons seemed to be unresponsive with his screen protector on, but that the screen swipe seemed to be okay. I was going to get one and trim off the bottom portion that covers the Back Button, but haven't gotten brave enough yet.

And I thought I had a defective unit. I've had exactly the same problem since I got the phone a week and a half ago. I'm still using the stock screen protector.

However, after applying the v9 update tonight, those buttons seem much more responsive. I need to use it more to see if it's just my imagination, but I'm optimistic.

"Ver 9" was an illfated release that snuck out of LG before it was approved, it was only available for a few hours before it was caught, It is esentially the same as "Ver 8."   Unfortunately for thos of us that installed Ver 9, it can effect what apps can be downloaded from the Android market because Google does not know it was every released, and some Apps check for the Google "Foot Print" of a Phone before you can download some apps...  So even if you could find it, I wouldn't recommend installing it.
