I have no problems with the Gmail account. I dont use it much so have it set not to sync. I use a POP3 account that does work fine. Problem is when the phone is turned on it checks for email. I can go in and read them and delete them. If I go back later to check again I might not get any emails. All I will get is Loading more messages and it just spins and spins and spins. This can also happen if I hit load more messages after I open it. I have had it at a Verizon coorparate store and of course it didnt do it the entire time the tech played with it. (just like a car or computer right? LOL) If I get into this mode of not d/l messages I have to turn the phone off and back on. withen seconds of being on bam I have lots of messages again. Just got the OTA update and did not fix this issue at all. Cant even seem to find anyone else having this problem. I do know that if I leave my outlook open at home then I will get error messages as my ISP sees two people trying to log into same account. But this happens even when it is closed. I am at a loss. The only thing I can think of if it isn't phone is that it is trying to log in twice to my ISP. It is in and when I hit load messages it trys a second time or at least the ISP is seeing a second time? Any thoughts would be appriciated. I use Charter by the way if that tells you anything.

Also having the same problem as the other poster. I can delete the emails and some but not all will d/l to my phone again and again until they are removed from server. I do not let the phone delete from server.

Thanks in advance for your time

ok solved the second problem with further research. If you delete a message before it has completly d/l to your phone the next time you check it will be back. Makes since. I have a bad habit of deleteing the spam mail as it comes in and thus see it again. that problem solved.
Still have the first one though. Thinking it might be an issue with the G3 connection? When on Wifi or in good reception area (hence not doing it at Verizon store) it does not seem to do it as much. Me restarting phone must do something to reception?

I haven't seen the first issue you are mentioning... I generally have 2 or 3 phones all with the same Gmail account and they don't seem to be bumping into each other... No errors, or Hanging when I try to retrieve Email.... It sounds like a signal issue.

I've seen the problem where I receive the same email over and over and I realized that I had the "Sync Deleted" option turned off so the deleted files that I deleted on my phone were not being deleted off of the Server. So next time I connected they came back. I've turned that option ON now to see if it helps.... Not a big issue but I'd like to fixt as well.

Okay, so it looks like my reply wasn't posted... Sorry about that.

Have you tried the limiting the number of days that you want it to Sync? I know you said you Sync manually but when you hit the "load more message button" I still think it uses the No of Days to Sync to retrieve that many days messages.

Try going to Settings>> Accounts>> Tap on your Charter Account>> Then Account settings>> And see what the "Amount to Sync" setting is set to. I'd adjust it down to one day, just as a test, and see if it will respond to that. Also, when you get the Busy Symbol, how long do you wait? If you do have a lot of mail it could take awhile to sync over 3G. I believe there is also an option to load only the "Headers" of the messages so it doesn't have to retrieve the whole message until you need it.

Try this and let me know if it works.

No I have it set to sync every 15 minutes. I have tried 1 hour and still does it. So not that it is doing becaues it is too often. it dosent seem to be doing it as often now but still does it.

I know they are working on some issues with the Email client and I think that Android 2.2 will address some issues as well. I'll keep looking for some updated Info

What type of Email are trying to use?  Exchange or a POP3 , IMAP email (Like Gmail or Yahoo)

For the POP or IMAPI accounts there are several Email Clients available for download in the Android Market like "MailDroid" just to mention one of many...  LG Doesn't endorse applications, I just listed this one as an example.

If you need Exchange support, unfortunately I think you will need to look at a 3rd party solution as well, for the mean time....  Two choices are TouchDown or RoadSync...  Both have a two week trial period and both seem to work well for me.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the quick reply!  It's a Hotmail account that's causing the problems.  I ended up removing the account from my phone and reinstalling it, so I'm going to see if that helps.  Did it less than an hour ago so need to give it some time...hope it works!

You might also consider downloading the Yahoo Email App, other than adding another App to my Ally to take up space, it seemed to work well....  Let me know how it works out.

I'm still having problems with my Hotmail account syncing correctly.  I've tried turning the phone off and back on, taking out the battery and restarting, and even brought it to the Verizon store today.  They reset everything back to factory settings, and it's STILL not working correctly.  HELP!!

Have you recieved the update that has started to be pushed out the other day?  The new version of Firmware is "VZC"  Can you check this for me?  If you do have "VZC" Please let me know!

I'm running SW Version ZVC.  The Firmware version I have is 2.1-update1.  I'm assuming those would be the most current since I was at the Verizon store just yesterday.

Based on something I read, last night I also downloaded a trial version of RoadSync.

I had to reboot the phone a couple times last night, but so far today I seem to be getting my e-mails.

I'll post again if I run into any more trouble.  Thank you so much for your help!
