I'm really enjoying my Ally as well, it's a great little Android phone!... I can't promise anything on the Android 2.2 Update (FroYo) but it would make sense. Even as much as I love the 2.1 Android OS, I'm really looking forward to the ability to install apps to the MicroSD card and all of the other cool features that will be added... I'll keep you posted when I hear anything. |

i hope so. Wanting to move up from my Choc 3 to a smart phone and like the Ally. I've heard the speed of 2.2 will make the Ally that much better. Come on FroYo! |

Will the Ally, with what's now a mid-range processor, be able to handle 2.2? |

My understanding that it will be smarter handling of resources, So it should be alright... I'd certainly like to see it. |

Well from a friend of mine, who works on the Android software for Google, he says anything the Droid will run the Ally will, which includes 2.2. LG Product Pro is correct in how the updates works. It's better optimized and overall faster. He said they're getting about a 30%-40% or so reduction in power consumption. Other phones like the Incredible are getting about a 20-25% reduction (as it is, as he says, a power hog). I will take a 30-40% reduction anyday! Flash 10.1..nuff said there! |

Well since Google has released the 2.2 SDK to everyone, hopefully LG will have 2.2 out for the Ally in no time at all! |

It would be great to get Froyo on the Ally sooner than later. But, let's be realistic. The phone hasn't even been on the market for 2 months. I'm sure Lg already has their hands full with the glitches that currently exist without having to revamp a new OS build. I think we're more likely to see them patch the current reported glitches and then launch 3.0 when it comes out later this year. |

Maybe but there are plenty of new Android phones hitting the market and getting 2.2 shortly after their launch. Take the Droid X and Galaxy S models. The Droid X is getting 2.2 by the end of July and the Galaxy S models (one for each major US carrier Verizon, ATT, T-mobile, and Sprint) and they will have 2.2 no later than August. |

I'd like to see 2.2 as well! The 'Patches' you mentioned will probably come from two different directions. LG could could possibly release a patch for Ally specific issues and then, hopefully, FroYo will address additional Android issues and add some features we are drooling over. |

FroYo does address one of the major issues I keep hearing on all Eclair phones. The freeze and reboot issue. That problem is being attributed to Android 2.0.1/2.1 having issues when Memory gets low. With the streamlined resource usage of 2.2 it should solve that issue (and has on my friends Moto Droid). |

AN LG Patch to help with some issues is coming... But right the Jury is still out on a FroYo update for the ally. |
