I just got a new UN430 yesterday and was going through the manual last night and this morning. Although I am old and feeble of mind I was able to use Bluetooth to get several selections of music into the phone and listened to them both through the speaker (terrible sound quality) and the earphones (very good sound quality). However when I listen through the earphones the phone must be open to operate, as soon as the clam-shell is closed the music shuts off. I bought this phone with the intention of using it to listen to music through the headphones while I ride my motorcycle with the phone in my shirt pocket.

Is it possible to do something with the phone to over ride the shut off so that I can listen with the case closed?

Oh, and while I'm at it, what sized card do I want to hold a hundred or so MP3 files of popular songs (typical 2~3 minute length)?

Any help will certainly be appreciated - I have 30 days to take the phone back if I don't like it, and if I can't listen to it, then I don't like it.

I don't know how to play music with the Flip closed... It sounds like this would be pretty important to you.
As for Music Storage on the MicroSD card, it depends on the Quality of the encoding, better encoding at higher quality rates generally means larger songs, but I would guess you would need a 2GB card to hold 100 Songs at good encoding rates.

Thank you very much for your response. This sounds to me like a software glitch that could easily be fixed should the software be updated at some time in the futrue, but that won't do me much good riding tomorrow. Its a shame because I like this phone - but its got to go back. US Cellular has a 30 day return policy so I can trade it in for another phone, either produced by LG or by someone else.

I guess I'll return it in the morning and see what else they have. Do you know if any of the LG phones will play music when closed? I prefer clam-shell phones to protect the screen and keyboard while in my pocket. Oh, and by play music I mean through both the included FM radio and saved music. I sure hope so.

And thank you again for your help - I really do appreciate it and it certainly does't go unnoticed that the company provides quick answers to customer questions, something else I very much appreciate. I sure hope you all make a phone that meets my needs.

Looking at the US Cellular Line up, the Mystique is new... It's a little different design but through other carriers who have have similar phones it's been very popular. You mentioned wanting a Flip phone to protect the screen... The Mystique is a Flip phone however it does have a touch screen on the outside of the Flip. It does have access to the Music right on the Flip so you could easily start your music and drop it in your pocket. It might be worth a look.
