I have now had two UX840 Tritan phones. Both of which reboot when you access the inbox. LG will not confirm there is any problem, but after working with US Cellular today, they have confirmed with LG (since they now have a dozen phones returned) there is a software bug in version 4. LG has been supposedly working on this for a couple weeks. No word on a fix yet. The only way to get the phone working again is to have the store re-initialize the phone. You lose everything, but the phone works again (until it encounters the LG bug).

Wish I knew how long it's going to take LG to fix this. Pretty poor testing if you ask me. Found it within two hours of having my first phone.

Yes, this is the text messaging inbox. When you access it to view the messages, the phone reboots. According to USCellular, they now have almost two dozen phones returned because of this and LG has given them no time frame for a software fix. It is really strange for a bug like this. The phone alerts that you have new text messages, but you just can't get to them. They will reload the phone, but you lose everything on your phone, even the new messages. You are better off to turn off the phone and let them reload everything, then receive the messages. That way you will still get the new messages. Anything sent when the phone is acting up is lost and never to be seen.

Am I the only one that has experience this?

I should have known better than to buy a new phone again! I too will get random shutdowns, and i swear sometimes the phone is retarded to boot!If anybody in cyberspace has any suggestions how to resolve my phone's handicaps please let me know. Until then good luck to everyone.

Mine also shuts off randomly, not just when I access the inbox. Sometimes when I'm in the middle of a long text message or just messing around looking through pictures. This happened with my last LG phone too. Why don't you guys test the software properly so you don't keep giving your costumers faulty pieces of junk. Here's one more customer lost, I'm switching plans as soon as my contract runs up.

I've had my Tritan since June and have never had this issue. Maybe it was a particular production lot that had a hardware problem.

I had the update done on Wednesday 9/2 and wound up with a brick. Flashing the phone somehow wiped out the ESN. I got my replacement on Friday 9/4 which had the update applied. The tech could not tell me which bugs were fixed but he did say the one requarding voice training had not been fixed. So far I haven't had the phone spontaneously reboot on me. Not sure about the ring tone bug as I have decided to just use one ring tone.

I have had my Triton since June and was told that it's just something I need to "deal with" that it randomly reboots ALL THE TIME!!! It also locks up and you have to take the battery out to fix it. I love all the features on this phone and would be so happy if it would just WORK!!!! My phone reboots no matter what I am doing on the phone, sometimes when I'm not even using it, too! I am so frustrated that I am thinking of switching to another phone, but I really don't want to pay the huge money for a new phone when I waited for this one to be released and paid top dollar for it. Everyone I have talked to with this phone (there are about 15 of us in my area) are all having these problems and we have US Cellular and Verizon, so it's not just a carrier issue, it's a phone issue. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE FIX THIS!!!!! I am so sick of my phone restarting at least 10 times a day every day!

Your phone has something wrong, my tritan has not rebooted since I last updated. I still have a problem with the Mobile emal not working unless I frequently remove the battery. I have learned to deal with this issue because I don't really like the Mobile email anyway. I am keeping insurance on my phone so if I start having problems I can take it back for a replacement.

The "lockups" can be attributed to the "my contacts backup" software. The software has a SERIOUS issue with running on an automated schedule. This entirely LOCKS the UX840. If you disable the automatic backup, and do it manually, the phone will not lock up. I have not personally had any issues with the email client, but simply put, it sucks.

My daughter's phone just recently started randomly powering down and then starting back up while just sitting on the table. I went to charge it overnight, and then next morning she said it was doing this. She doesn't have much on the phone and occasionally uses Facebook, Myspace etc. She does use My Contacts back-up which is set to automatic. We did download one Pac Man game earlier in the night right before I placed it on the charger. Was thinking maybe this game is causing the problem. Never had a problem prior. I don't know much about the phone otherwise. Didn't know if there was software upgrade or anything. Have had the phone since Nov. 2009. She also has an 8gb memory card.

So the Phone is just randomly rebooting? One of the old and simple tricks to try on a phone that is misbehaving is to PULL the Battery out of the phone while it is turned ON. Not on the charger but turned on. Leave the battery out for a minute or so and then plug it back in and power back up. This clears out all of the Temporary Phone memory and some times clear up odd behaviors... If the phone continues to reboot, I'd pull the Pacman game off of the phone temporarily and see if that helps... If that fails I would check with your local US Cellular corporate store they should be able to apply any available updates. If all else fails then we would want to contact US Cellular or LG Support and see what they can suggest. This is not normal for the phone to randomly reboot. LG support can be reached at: (800) 793-8896

My phone has been doing the same thing. Turn on and off all by itself sometimes for as long as 7 hours. It happens with different things. I tried to bluetooth a picture to my computer, i sent a text, i charged the phone, i made a phone call. I do have my contracts back up on the phone on auto. I recently had my phone replaced and it is doing it all over again. The first phone i had for months, sent it back to LG three times. Finally got a replacement phone and new battery. Now im back to square one again. I have removed my contracts back up but didn't make any difference. I have tried three different phone chargers to see if it was a charger. I replaced the battery. I have tried taking the battery out when the phone is on. But nothing helps. I also had a problem where the phone only plays the default ringtones. I change the setting and it still plays the old ringtone. So i decided to try to reset phone to factory settings. Then it turned on and off for seven hours straight. And the ringtone problem hasn't been fixed. I can live with the ringtone but the fact that the phone turns on and off all the time is making my phone useless. I do have insurance with US Cellular but they say they have to send it three times before they replace it. Well they did and it didn't work. I am so sick of this phone and its problems and it seems like LG is not getting that this is a problem. Im running out of patience and want an answer. It is not normal for a phone to turn on and off by itself. When the phone turns on i try to call a number or do the *228 update to see if that will help but as soon as i press a button it turns off again. So i can't do anything with the phone when it is going through this cycle. I have been going through this for almost a year. I can't wait til i can upgrade so i can get rid of this piece of crap phone. I love the phone don't get me wrong but with the rebooting i might as well not even have a phone anymore. I can't get a hold of anyone and i am missing important phone calls for my job. Please please please LG help me with my phone and fix this problem!
