Okay,
My phone connects to the computer via the USB connection on COM 5. My Bluetooth dongle is not connected and the phone is set to communicate with a PC via USB modem.
Now, I remember having the same grayed out issues with Bitpim. Be sure to choose Other CDMA Phone in the Bitpim setup.
I don't remember how I got it to work after I saw the grayed out options... I think I went ahead and bought the USB dongle and then after I got that set up and went back to USB it worked. However, now that I try to work with the phone via USB cable... it's not working. Maybe it is the Jabra USB dongle that I bought that actually worked.
As I said... I thought it would be something I would do a lot to avoid the US Cellular charges to send picture messages... but I really haven't used it at all beyond the initial playing around.
Let me find the dongle and plug 'er back in to see how it works.

Yup, that was it. The USB Cable connection never worked I guess. I could 'get' the file system information from the phone and I could see the ringtones and pictures I've taken and stuff... and it looked like I could transfer a file to the phone... but it never showed up on the phone.
The bluetooth approach is simpler and straight forward... and like I said... I thought I would use the feature a lot. I really haven't.
It seems that the only good the USB cable is for is to charge the phone. If LG had an updated driver then maybe it would work and you could grab the contacts and stuff from your phone.
Oh well... sorry for the confusion.

Baker,
Thanks for the update. I'm in the same position you are, I don't know how often I would actually use this but the info is nice to have. Luckily, my daughters new laptop has Bluetooth built in so I guess I will have to see how it works on there.

I just purchased the LG UX300 cell phone from U.S.Cellular and the USB connection cable. I would like to know (step by step) how to simply get the photos from my phone to my PC/Laptop. |
