I just got a new UX300 through USCellular. I like the phone... but I would like to be able to file transfer via the USB cable I have and not get charged by USCC for sending pics to myself. I can't find information about driver(s) for the UX300 that would enable me to do so. Windows XP recognizes new hardware but doesn't find/load a driver automatically. Any USB driver out there for the UX300? Any generic driver that I can use so Bitpim will work? Thanks, Baker

I purchased the UX300 and was told that I could get a cable somewhere. Apparently that somewhere does not include US Cellular, LG (even tho the USB cable is listed as an accessory), or Radio Shack.

Why can't I buy the necessary cable from LG??

Then there apparently is a "driver" issue. Should I just return the 3 phones I came home with?

Baker,

You need to have a memory card installed into the phone... Attaching the USB cable gives you access to the data on that card alone.

Gene,

I have no clue WHERE to get this cable, but one came with my phone. My understanding is that it's a new standard USB size, so you should be able to get one at any computer store?

Hey all,

I got it to work. The cable for charging the phone will work with BitPim and utilizing the "other CDMA phone" settings. I installed the set of drivers from LG and it works like a charm. I can easily transfer pics and sounds to/from the phone and computer. Glad I was able to figger it out. Let me know if details you need, supply them I will.

I also have a Bluetooth dongle which gives me access as well.

Just thought I'd let you know.

I tried that on two different computers but no joy. Installed the drivers and BitPim does recognize the phone in "other CDMA" mode. It 'sees" it on COM4 on one machine and COM6 on the other but I still can't access the phone's files. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong....any ideas suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

"i've been trying too find a place to put the memory card, i am told i need."

The UX300 does not take a memory card. The UX380 does but it lacks a USB port. Those @ssholes at U.S. Cellular first sold me the UX300 telling me that I could easily transfer files to and from my pc. Today they told me that they were mistaken and that it's IMPOSSIBLE to do so.......then they happily offered to sell me a more expensive phone!!

I'm not asking for much...I don't want to watch videos, or listen to mp3's, or even text!! I JUST want to get the damn pictures off my phone!!!

Cheers.....CL

I know what you mean captain! After searcing for a couple of weeks I got the USB cable for mine and found out that the drivers havent been approved for Windows XP per microsoft. I contacted someone with LG and they say that they decided not to jump thru MS's hoops to get the approval, but the drivers would work fine. I hooked it all up and now I'm seeing that in Bitpim the phone is seen, but all the selections are greyed out.

I think these two that I just bought will be my last LG phones. I can't find support for them, even on thier own site when I click support its just for tv, washers, etc. Can hardly find anything on the UX300. I know it's just a cheapie, but was my entry to LG products.. and now .. no more! If they cant support the cheepies, why would it be better on teh expensive more complicated stuff.

I hear you bro, LG support is a frigging JOKE!! I called phone support and got some poorly

trained half-wit in Pakistan. Like the @-holes at US Cellular this jerk told me it COULD NOT
BE DONE!! Both companies lied to me and told me it was impossible to transfer files back and forth between a UX300 and a PC in an effort to get me shell out for a more expensive phone. What BS!!!!! But you know its not just LG and US Cellular all the carriers and manufactures are damn scam artists. But screw 'em. I bought a $7 Bluetooth dongle on eBay and it works great!! I'm easily transferring pics and audio back and forth!!

Cheers......CL

I have a UX300 and would like to download pictures from the camera to my PC. I have a Dell laptop runing Vista with a bluetooth adapter that I have been able to pair with my phone. What LG drivers will I need to make BitPim work with my setup?

If you read a little bit farther up in the thread, you can see that we are complaining that LG dosent seem to have any information about this phone. I have dl'd the drivers that LG has but Windows XP says they arent signed properly. LG does say they work but however it seems no one can make the phone itself work with bitpim. Data Pilot might have a program soon for the UX300 is what I was told. MIGHT! We've been left swinging in the wind.

Just picked up the UX300 a day ago and I really like it. But I soon found out what a problem it is picking up ringtones, etc. I'm old fashioned and I had a favorite old-time sounding phone ringing on my other phone and my wife's. We found out today we could use bluetooth to send the old-time ringer from her phone to my UX300. I'm happy now and I like my phone even more.

Yes I also got taken in buy US Cellular. The sales pople tell you one thing but when it comes time to do it, it doesn't work. Like others have said, that's when the tecks come out and tell you sorryit doesn't work that way. "Sorry"? Can't wait till my contract is up to see if I can find a carrier that actually cares about the customer.

But enough of my rant. I too have been told that they are still working on the software for this phone.

You should be able to download the drivers on this site under "file library". Once you have the drivers dowwloaded and saved in your pc, the pc will find your handset as soon as you plug in the USB... If you have the latest bitpim software, it should detect it right away... Good Luck

Okay, so everyone is upset with their UX300 (sorta) because it's not easy to connect it to a pc to transfer files and pics and such. I thought I would do that a lot... and lo and behold I'm not doing that much of it.

Anyway... here is what I recall that I did to get it all working.

I downloaded a zipped set of drivers from the LG site. I can't remember where I found them but through a lot of searching I finally found them. The file that I found is called "LGUSBModemDriver_SON_ML_Ver_4.6.exe".

After I installed the drivers and installed BitPim I think it didn't work. That's when I almost went postal on the machine and gave up. But alas, a cooler head prevailed and I got a USB Bluetooth dongle thingy. Once that was installed and working I could see the phone and transfer to/from it via Bluetooth. I also realized that I could see it with Bitpim by using "Other CDMA Phone/Modem" as the setting in Bitpim for the phone.

I used the connection several times... then not again. I'll try it now... but I need to find the cable I bought. Found it... connected... phone is chargin... starting Bitpim... searching for phone... found Other CDMA Modem on COM 8... and within Bitpim I can view the inner workings.

The Bluetooth route is easier if I recall... more Win Explorer like. BTW... I'm using XP Home.

Sorry to gloss over it but the details escape me... really... I don't know if the Bluetooth setup caused the Bitpim to work but it works.

More later if need be.

Could your bluetooth be connecting on comm 8?

Check your PC Connection settings on the phone and see if it is set to Bluetooth.

I just followed your instructions and bitpim finds the other CDMA phone but I can't download any data from it because all of the options are grayed out. I don't have bluetooth on my computer so I know I am going strictly through the USB cable.

Thanks,
