Hey LG ProductPro, any news or info on the next G2X update that is in the works right now? Mostly looking for info as to what all it intends to bring to the phone. I unfortunately never got to try out the Froyo G2X Camera which i have heard was pretty nice and have been stuck with the stock Gingerbread camera which is less then awesome. Heck my old HTC HD2 with a 5mp shooter took night and day better pics then this G2X with a 8mp. So i am hoping for information about what the next update will bring to the phone. thanks, Nate |

Yeah the old camera was really nice, I miss it as well.... Update? A very painful topic. User hate when I'm silent, they hate it worse when I say soon.... So I'll let you know when I have something I can talk about.... |

Cool, thanks LG ProductPro! I appreciate the reply. I am mostly just glad to hear that it has not been scrapped or canned. Thus far anyway ;) I personally do not have intentions on attacking you about any of this, I know that you do not make the software or have control over its release. Unfortunately, as our point of contact, you kind of have to hear it all and help us to relay our comments and concerns to those that can make the calls and decisions about our phones. I imagine that just like the many of us, that you probably don’t have a disposable income and can’t afford to buy a new phone off contract every 6 months just to get around software issues or to get updated relevant software. I understand that you cannot comment on the status of the update. I would like LG to be more friendly with information regarding the updates though. Some info about what is being planned for the update, what is done thus far and that sort of thing. I work in the software development world and while we cannot offer exact release dates we typically have a list of features, bugs fixed or other items that are planned on for a particular update and as each item is completed and tested and finished, we add it to the completed list and are free to inform customers of the status of each item. I know that not all companies can or are willing to release that info but from personal one on one talks with my companies customer, our customers are much happier when they know what to expect and what not to expect per release or update. I am the main point of contact for most of my companies customers when it comes to technical issues or software issues and it really helps when I can give the customer information about what is happening with their software. Again, I am not wanting to or trying to bust your chops LG ProductPro, I appreciate that you reply to my messages and try to help the best you can. The only thing I would ask of you is that you continue to kindly pass along our concerns and comments and suggestions on our behalf and to make sure it gets to the right people who can help us. Respectfully, Nate |

Thanks for the info! It's unfortunate that I've already decided to move on. T-Mobile won't replace the G2x because the issues are known to them and I can't have a phone having the sleep of death twice a day some times so I'm selling it. Already ordered a Galaxy Nexus and will never buy an LG product again. Again, it's not your fault and you're in a tough spot, but still, thanks for at least letting people know the update hasn't been cancelled in light of T-Mobile EOL'ing the G2x. I hope the update fixes most of the issues for everyone here, or at least the main ones. One more thing, I don't know if this was passed on from T-Mobile to LG when I mentioned it to them. In the stock ROM, car home and navigator run in the background all the time and it kills the battery. If I reboot the phone I have to kill those two, otherwise the battery life is really short. If they could make it so that those two don't launch automatically, that would be great. |

You can root the phone and keep Gingerbread 2.2.3. Doing this you can dowload any number of apps from the Market that would Freeze Car/Home or any other program that you do not want running. This would free up the memory. |

Oh I know, I've flashed many ROMs already. Been doing this since the Cingular 8125. Anyways, my tip there about those two services in the stock ROM is to see if they can fix it on the next update for regular people who don't know about rooting or flashing custom ROMs. Rooting and flashing should never be needed by regular people in order to make something work, it should always be part of the tinkerers, hackers, and hobbyists. |
