My husband and I both have the Rumor from Sprint and have been having a big problem with it.My husbands phone restarts itself EVERY time he goes to access the internet or even sometimes when he goes to view his contacts. My phone did not start this until recently I was trying to send a picture mail and it just restarted. Then occasionally I will go access the internet and it shuts itself off. What is this problem and how do I look to getting a new Rumor? I love the phone but ours is malfunctioning too often.

My daughter is having that same issue. She just told me about it and here I am trying to find a solution. We just added data services to her plan and she tells, everytime she accesses the internet, the phone restarts!!
Please help.....

mine was doing the same thing. I accessed my e-mails once and then from then on everytime I got an e-mail the phone would turn itself on to the internet and tell me I have mail. I would go in and turn off the internet but it would turn itself back on again. I finally had to take it into the store and have the re-set it. There is one BIG problem with this..... IT EARASES EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ON THE PHONE! Oh they can keep y our numbers but all your ring tones, text messages, pictures and everything else will be gone. But that seems to be the only thing they can do right now. what a pain!

I know of a number of friends that are having the same issues, myself included. The problems will progress to much more then just shutting off now and then too...mine is a mess!

Hi there - I checked into this for you and all these issues are software issues. The new software release is scheduled for September so if all of you can hold tight until then your problems will be fixed. I will keep you posted as I learn more.

I would like to know about this software release as well as soon as you find out. My sister and I both bought Rumors at the same time and we have both had the exact same problem. What we noticed is if you hit any of the directional arrows while a page is loading, that will restart the phone EVERY time.

I have been having the same problem and it is really making me mad. I called Sprint and they told me I needed a software update. The problem is that there are no updates. Sprint then told me to contact LG and I lost the number that they gave me.

Software/firmware update is out and available. If your phone has not already told you an update is available, go to Menu, Tools and Settings, Tools and Update Firmware then just follow the instructions.

I was able to upload an update to my Rumor today, but the other one I have says there's NOTHING available! Nothing like consistency!

I have just received word that LG Repair will repair any 260 (Rumor) that is determined to have a charger port issue and the phone is still within warranty. Please call LG Customer Service to receive a Return Authorization number. Thanks!

My daughters Lime Green Rumor is turning itself off from time to time. Will this firmware upgrade address that problem? She loves the phone but this is frustrating her especially since she has only had it for about five months. Will the firmware upgrade erase any user data (number, pics, ringtones, etc.) stored in the phone?

You can "try" the firmware update. Touch the "menu/ok" button, go to "settings", then "tools", and finally, "update". It will take a few minutes to do if there is an update available. But if it says there isn't you can call Sprint and ask for the TECH DEPT. What they NEED TO DO is reset your web browser. The might fix it, at laest it did mine. (For about 3 days that is.) Sprint FINALLY replaced my Rumor w/ a Rant after I went through 4 Rumors in less than two months. Good luck.

wow, this has been going on for over 2 years and it's still not resolved?  I have a Rumor 2 that does the same thing -- restarts when opening email, closing email, opening browser...  It's gotten much worse over the past week and I check for updates every day.  How frustrating.  =(
