I bought about two weeks ago and have some questions. Real info on the phone is somewhat lacking.

Multi-Tasking(?) Possible in anyway? If I'm using a web browser I can recieve incoming calls but can't make outgoing calls.
Can't use the camera while doing anything else. Same with music.

There's some typos built in the firmware I'd assume. I sent an email to LG CS, before I learned of this site, and the response it's up to the provider to fix. Problems is the "," becomes " ' " in third party applications, like Opera Mini whic is SO MUCH better than the built in browser btw.
Also in applications I'm given the choice to 1)Run or 2)Shop.

Oh yeah some reviews say this phone has bluetooth stereo but I don't see mention of it anyplace else.

On the topic of bluetooth just how are you supposed to use this ftp thing?

Thanks.

Well, about your frimware issue, there is an option in tools to Update Firmware by pressing #. you might give that a try.

The firmware is all developed by the carriers, so they are the ones that would have to fix that. The phone doesn't multitask like other phones that are designed for that purpose but you could try out all the applications possible while on the phone by putting it on speaker phone and attempting to browse the web or play a game or whatever. AS with the camera and music questions, this phone isn't capable of multitasking in that regard.

Now. by "ftp thing" are you talking about file transfer??? Or what?

The phone is an enigma.

From what I was told by Sprint when I called for my internet not working, the firmware is created by LG.
I'm checking non-stop for a firmware update.

Haven't figure out FTP file transfer or Bluetooth anything.
I was able to pair it to a headset. I was able to send a contact to it but try sending a contact to the same phone, or exchanging, and it does do it.

Multitasking: Sometimes while a browser is open it'll ring other times it goes straight to voicemail.

Oh well I compared it to other phones looking for something better and the Rumor is better reviewed than the other Sprint phones so it stays, for now (:

Have you tried looking up the bluetooth and FTP issue in the user or quick start guides? There are links in the file library.

Unfortunately the Rumor does not support the A2DP Bluetooth profile for stereo. It would be nice if it did, but I think this handset was intended to be a good "work horse" for the heavy texter and also have the camera, video, and Bluetooth options if needed. For a low to mid level price this phone is extremely feature rich. I converted some movies to 3GP format and stored them on my SD card. It has a great video processor in it and the movies played perfect. No multi tasking features, which would be nice but as the multi task feature gets more and more popular it will probably be a standard option on future handsets with this many features.

Hello,

Does anyone know if there is a way to delete or avoid recording Recent Items in the Messages section of the Rumor. I want to avoid having recent SMS addresses being saved on the phone. There does not seem to be a way to delete them like you can delete the Call Log.

Thanks,

Nicko

I believe that you will need to manually delete them yourself. There is not a feature in the menu (or back door) to block them from storing in them in the phone.

i don't know if anyone will read this...

my rumor has started behaving strangely. it used to be, that when i got a text, the message would pop up on the screen, a tone would play, and the phone would vibrate once.

suddenly a couple of weeks ago, it started doing something different. when a text comes in, there is no sound or vibration, and the phone's "locked" screen shows the "1 missed alert" message. the phone still rings when i get a regular call, so i know it is not an issue with the sound settings, this ONLY happens with TEXTS.

i took the phone to a local radio shack, and they told me i'd have to go to a sprint store, but the nearest one is over 40 minutes away so i'd rather not have to do that. any suggestions, or should i just give up and buy a new phone?

Go through the settings one by one and make sure nothing was inadvertently changed.
The next step would probably be to do a reset. Be prepared to lose your contacts unless you can backyard up. I don't know how to do text with the phone.

Honestly I got rid of it and got a smartphone from craigslist.

I managed to fix the problem. Turns out I had an update waiting to be installed, and once I did that it started working again.
Thanks for your suggestion!
