I just purchased a new Ford Edge with Sync feature. However after doing everything right when I dial it goes directly to call ended. Ford and Sprint both tell me it is an LG problem . Does anybody know about this and how to solve the problem so I can use the sync with my LG Rumor??

Has there been a reply to this yet? I just received my Rumor by LG (Black) yesterday. I tried today to get it working with my Sync in my '08 Ford Focus and if I make an outbound call it rings once then drops. I can receive an inbound call no problem. I found on the syncmyride.com website that the Rumor is on the list of incompatible phones however it does not say anything about the call dropping. Here is the list of phones they found to be incompatible and the issues each have.

Has Ford tested any phones and found them not compatible with Sync? Of all phones tested by Ford, there are only a few that are not compatible due to peculiarities in these phones applications of the Bluetooth specifications and/or profiles. They are listed below:

- Motorola v710 (firmware version unknown): You will not be able to pair this phone to Sync, or establish a stable connection between this phone and Sync.

- Palm 755P (firmware version unknown): You will not be able to make outgoing calls through Sync with this phone.

- Samsung Gleam (firmware version U700.AG07): Although this phone will pair and connect to Sync, you will not be able to make outgoing calls within a few minutes of connecting the phone to Sync.

- Samsung Juke (firmware version U470.AH23): You will not be able to make outgoing calls with this phone.

- Samsung M300 (firmware version M300AE07): Although this phone will pair and connect to Sync, each time you attempt to make an outgoing call, Call Ended will appear on the Sync screen.

- Samsung SCH-A870 (firmware version A870.ZD09): You will not be able to maintain the Bluetooth connection between this phone and Sync.

- Samsung SCH-A990 (firmware version A990.ZH07): This phone acts unpredictably when connected to Sync.

- Sprint LG Rumor (firmware version LX260V06): This device incorrectly reports the status of current calls.

- Sprint Samsung M510a (firmware version ESM510 AC19): This device occasionally freezes and/or resets during automatic phonebook download.

- Verizon i760 (firmware version i760-07V-AH08): This device incorrectly reports the status of current calls.

My daughter saved her money and bought a very expensive LG VU and of course it has bluetooth, so when she saved for her down payment on her Ford Focus with sync she thought this will be great, well she is really sad that the bluetooth will not connect, it did once and now all it does is show that it is trying to connect and will not work for her. It's not the sync on the Ford , our other phones work fine with it. I called AT&T and the gentleman there referred me to LG because of a known issue of having a very poor bluetooth system stating that the bluetooth they have on the LG phones is an incompatible one for the LG phones, kind of like trying to put an apple program on a microsoft pc and they have many issues. I called LG and the young lady was being very helpful and will pass on my concerns to a supervisor to see if they can offer a solution. Now that my daughter has a car note she will not be able to buy another new phone and works too hard to have her money go to waste so I hope we can resolve this issue.

It's unfair to say that LG uses poor BT implementation across the board, but some of their phones have been known for being pretty bad. I used Sync in a Fusion with a Venus and it was like Magic. Probably more research should have been done before she bought a car if it's that upsetting. Sorry to hear about your situation.

Hey new to this community but looks like I may be of some help. I initially joined to look for some help unlocking my phone so if any of you are familiar with unlocking the rumor/scoop any help would be appreciated.

Any way to explain how I can help, I am a former Sync technician. I worked for Ford's Sync Customer Care division doing troubleshoot and a lot of testing with the Sync system.

So to answer the OP's question; No. The Rumor will not work with Sync. When you dial out and it drops the call after the first few rings that's the best sign a phone will not work. However, you may hear of some compatible phones that will do this same thing, ie: iphone, palms, etc. The reason for those doing it is most likely due to the user recently updating their firmware to one Sync doesn't recognize. Back to the Rumor though, I will do some more checking and dig out some of my old guides and see maybe if I can't find a way around this and get the Rumor to work.

Mimi, if you're still looking for help with you problem with the VU post up and let me know. I will get you my email and I'll try to see what we can figure out on trying to get it to work.

Steve then it sounds like she should have no problem since you could use your blue tooth from an LG product, so I think LG should repair this issue for us. As far as research Steve the phone was brand new when she bought it in May and was told it would work, funny no one wants to "own" the issue and make it right. It's seems like it's just "too bad so sad" We did not base our car purchase on the phone but the phone purchase on the car, so the least LG should do is issue a disclaimer that "bluetooth may not work with Sync". As far as unfair goes Steve I can only for sure go by my experience so far and it is very unfair to sell a $500 phone with the indication it will work and it does not.
I have emailed trent to see if he can help from his end, at least he is trying, that is more than I can say for LG or AT&T.

I'd just like to point out that I don't work for LG, and so though I honestly do wish I could help you with your problem, the best I have is knowledge gleaned from experience. Unfortunately, it's not LG's problem if your device doesn't work with Microsoft's software. It's also not AT&T's fault. Like Trent mentioned, he suspects that the problem is likely that Sync doesn't recognize how to interact with the phone's firmware.

LG and AT&T are only bound to support services and devices that they are offering. If your phone didn't work with say, an LG bluetooth headset or it didn't work with AT&T's services in some way, I could see your point. It hardly seems logical to put a warning in the documentation listing all the 3rd party devices and services with which the phone is not compatible. I think if anyone, Ford/Microsoft should step up and add the compatibility, since they're the ones selling the car and the Sync software. Maybe THEY should release a list of phones that do not work with their product... oh wait, they did.

Furthermore, if you bought the phone in May, and some rep told you it would work, then perhaps you should take the device back to the rep who said it would work. Maybe they would consider exchanging your device for one that does work, since they falsely represented it.. but again, it never helps to THOROUGHLY research products before purchasing them.

I wish you the best in this endeavor, and I would really appreciate if you would keep us posted as to the progress of this, since I would be frustrated also..

Hi... I also have a new Ford Edge and the Rumor. The LG Rumor is not compatible with Sync however there is a way around it. You have to press the Phone button on your steering wheel when the phone call comes up on the screen and it will keep the phone call from disconecting! I was so frustrated trying to figure this out. I spent hours in my car and eventually someone told me that trick. Hope it works for you!

I installed the latest update to SYNC and it fixed a lot of problems. I think the website is syncmyride.com.

Ia m having the same problem with my LG 9100 keyboard!! It worked for awhile so I thought it was a Ford problem but after spending 2 hous at the dealership they said it was a phone problem and I cannot figure out anywhere how to recitfy it! If you have any ideas please please let me know. I say "call XXX" and it says "calling XXX" and then I get "call ended." I can get it to work if I dial but that is not the objective of the system. I am am at the point that I might jsut go buy a new phone.

Wish I could type and think at the same time! I will try the holding the phone icon on the steering wheel and see if that helps.

I do now have all the Sync updates...2 hours and $100 at the dealership... but somewhere along the way the LG was updated, I now believe, which caused the problem. All of a sudden the phone itself started talking and I did not make that change....so had the techs at the phone store fix that but they cannot say how to fix the "call ended" problem.

Can you tell I not computer savvy?

Thank you

This problem with FORD Sync happens with quite a few cell phones.   I have a Samsung sph M620 ( CDMA cell phone) which also drops out after the first few rings.  This model is only a few years old.   The Bluetooth feature worked very well with Motorola Hands free car kits ( Models T505 and T215 ).  Another interesting symptom is that when the call drops out,  it also disconnects the Bluetooth connection between the phone and SYNC as well.

No solutions at this time but it appears that SYNC is very particular to the make, model and age of the phone that it "syncs" with ? and that the incompatible list is quite large but not all phones are recorded !!

The new service being offered by Ford goes global. I am really amazed and wondering how it works. Ford had decided to take on GM's OnStar and Infiniti's Personal Assistant systems. The car maker is adding a live operator program to its online Sync system. Ford has dubbed the new program Operator Assist. The program is being provided on a test basis. The proof is here: Ford Sync to offer live operator assistance.
