So my daughter's 2 month old Lotus developed the "screen problem" (inner screen goes black, outer screen sometimes goes black), and we stopped by Sprint today. The guy there said they could replace with a refurb in 2 days, OR we could try LG support and maybe get a new phone. If we got a new phone, we could bring it in and have the stuff transferred, etc.

Wrong.

I just got off a chat session with LG:

M: My daughter's 2 month old LG Lotus phone has developed screen problems. Sometimes the screen goes completely black. I have Sprint as my carrier, but they said that they would have to replace it with a refurbished unit. Can I get replacement or repair from LG?

LG: If the unit is sent in to LG, we would attempt to repair. In the event that it could not be repaired then we would replace with a refurbished unit of same model if it is under warranty.
LG: Once the unit is received by LG Wireless the repair time is 10 to 14 business days to receive it back.
LG: I am sorry you are having that issue. Do you want to set that up for service?

M: t's two months old and it can only be replaced with a refurb? Sprint can do that and it would take two days.

LG: I am sorry, that is how the warranty is handled.

M: I see in the LG forum that this is a major, ongoing issue.
M: There are numerous reports of this screen problem.
M: Well, thank you for your time, I will go through Sprint instead.
M: And I will see what can be done about perhaps replacing with a different model
M: from a different company.
___

I just find that unacceptable service. Sprint can deliver that service in 2 days, but here is a device that obviously has a major malfunction that, if anything, deserves a recall. If my car can't be repaired, they don't give me a used car to replace it.

Is this really LG's warranty policy?

I appreciate your feedback and am sorry to hear that you have had a frustrating experience with your daughters Lotus. I have forwarded the issue with your phone so that we can do further research. LG does have a one year warranty on each device sold. In my experience it is much faster to work with your wireless provider with the warranty.

I got a Lotus 2 months ago, and last night the screen went crazy. Sometimes it goes black, sometimes it is distorted, sometimes it is upside down and sometimes it is like a negative of a photo. I have really liked this phone and Sprint is going to send a replacement, but from what I've been reading, I should expect a refurbished one? That's pretty lame. And it seems that this is an ongoing problem with these phones, will the refubished one do the same thing? Is LG making any effort to fix the screen problem with the Lotus?

I'm having the same issue with my Lotus. My first one both screens gone black after two months and my second one the same withing three months (both new phones from manufacture not refurbished). I'm going for my third one now. Sprint made you feel like it's not their fault that I chosed a piece of art and it is not working right. I lost my two years upgrade qualification with this Lotus, and can not go to any different phone. I'm stuck to Lotus for the next sixteen months. Through how many more do I need to go through. This is not fun. I'm vry frustrated and upset. Somebody need to be responsible of this cell phone Lotus not working right. I am not the only one, every review in the internet had Lotus users complaning with the same issue. In the ten years that I've been with a cell phone this is the first time I have an issue. Sprint can look at my records and verify this.
I need a honest help with this issue.
I'm and of this since I am a very busy person and had no time to stay in the phone or at the store for hours trying to solve this problem every two months for the next year and a half when I qualify for a new upgrade.

I have heard that this issue has not been reported on a wide basis. Don't worry though I will still look into it. LG's priority is to find issues with this forum.

I've just started having the same problem with my phone. Disturbing to head I might get phone that has obvious wear and tear. My estimation would be the hinge and the connectors in the hinge are sub-par. Shame, since it's not like flip technology is all that new.

Lotus worked fine for about 6 or so months and then suddenly broke. It began flashing the Lotus screen and would never turn on all the way. I took it into sprint and they told me it was an LG problem and gave me the number for LG. I called LG and they asked me to send my phone in so they could try and fix it. LG was unable to fix it and sent me a refurbished Lotus. I had to wait about three weeks for this whole process but I happily accepted the refurbished Lotus. I lost all my contacts and everything else I had on the phone.

Flash forward to today, about 3 1/2 months later. The refurbished Lotus starts to do the exact same flashing thing and it will not turn on. I take it into the Sprint store and tell them what has previously happened and they say they can order me another refurbished Lotus or I can try LG again (what?!). I asked if there was any way I could get a different phone that has the same cost or lesser than the Lotus because I no longer wanted a Lotus, especially another refurbished one, since they keep breaking. Answer: No. Sprint and LG really need to start taking a proactive role here. I want a new phone that works not a refurbished one that has a 4 month lifetime. this is insane.

My screen started having issues two days ago, and a Google search brought me here. Exactly the same issues that others are having!

What should I do?

I am having the same issue! My outside screen is black sometimes and works other times. I went to the sprint store and they told me they could not repair it and would replace it with another phone; a refurb! I've only had this phone for 5 months and they're giving me a refurb!! If you purchase anything else in the world, more often than not they will replace it with a new one. While I protested, it was to no avail. So, the supposedly ordered a refurb for me.

I was to go in today after 3:00 to pick it up. NO phone! They say that it didn't get ordered!! Now they say they have a screen to replace the outside screen. Will this fix it? Who knows.

I called Sprint a total of 6 times in one day to try to get them to agree to send me a new phone. I finally asked how much it would cost for me to cancel my sprint service and go with another provider; $180. It may be worth it. I'm looking into Verizon. Three of the times I asked for the department where you can cancel your contract. Two of the three times the person helpfully tried to contact LG to see if they replace it with a new phone. All three times, I was disconnected!!! So, was this an accident? Three times? Accidentally disconnected? From a company whose business is PHONES!!!!!!!!!! Uh... i don't think so. Either that or sprint is as inept as I suspect they are!

I've been with sprint for years!! This is the way a loyal customer is treated!!!! LG was no help either. I send my phone away for 7-10 days and if they cannot repair it, I get a refurb! And, the phone comes back with everything deleted; contacts and everything. A good incentive to not send the phone in. Hrmmm........

I see many of you are having problems with your Lotus. Two weeks ago I took my Lotus off the charger to find that the outside screen was black. Have been having problems with it charging too. Have to get the connection between the phone and the charging plug-in situated just right for it to work! Anyway I got this phone from Radio Shack...our Sprint kiosk in the Mall was moving and the guy took me up to Radio Shack to get the phone. I have been a Sprint customer for over 5 years. I went to Radio Shack and they told me they don't do any warranty stuff - go to Sprint. I went to our local Sprint store and the guy looked at the phone and said oh you cracked the screen. There is no damage to the outside of the phone but he is showing me a line inside the screen? Anyway he says I have to go to another store, the repair shop.....the guy there says yes I have cracked the screen and because I don't have insurance on it I am stuck with it. The phone is only 7 months old and I can't figure out how it was working when I put it on the charger and went to bed and the next morning the screen is broken from the inside. The repair guy did tell me that it is the #1 reason that he sees the Lotus in his shop! So now what, I think this stinks. I never did get to the charging issue, I guess I will address that next!

I have 2 of these lg lx600's. My wife has one and I have one. My wifes outside screen cracked from the inside out, within 5 or 6 weeks of purchase. AT that time I though it was very odd, she didnt know what happened to it, she didnt drop it or hit it with a pencil or anything.

Then about 6 weeks later my outside screen cracked from the inside out. I didnt do anything to it. I didnt drop it. I didn't hit it with a pencil or anything. I did have it in my front pocket, but I did not run face first into a brick wall.
They just crack I guess and from my research on the internet. This is a common problem.

The LG LX600 should come with a warning "VERY fragile treat this phone like a quail egg. DO not tap it with a pencil eraser. Do not put it in your pocket, BUY one of those screen protectors and a SUper heavy duty case, do not use in cold weather then go in the house where it is warm ETC."

I dont know why mine cracked. I didnt do anything to it to cause it to crack. I have had dozens of cell phones over the last 10+ years and never had one crack.

Now I have 2 that cracked in less than 4 months after purchase.

Sprint is no help and wants $100 to fix each one. The problem is so common e ven the salesman at the sprint store knew exactly what was wrong with it and how much it cost to fix.

When I called sprint they offered me 1/2 of the replacement cost. Not sure if they were offering that on both. But I have reasearched this problem before and there was a guy who made a you tube video where he buys the outside screen for like 5 bucks and replaces his own screen because neither LG or spring would help him. You broke it!

The thing is flimsy and cracks very easily. Sprint shoudl tell you when you buy it, you better buy this insurance as it is very likely your screen will go black, crack or your camera will stop working because someone failed to put the connectors on properly.

Whatever the cause it is due to no fauly of my own even though I am not sure exactly when it happened. I went to bed it was all good and woke up and it was cracked. I have no cats. And the phone is kept on a tall refrigerator safely tucked away plugged into its charger.

So after sprint only offered half and that wasnt accceptable they called LG who said sure send us your two phones and we will take a look at them, but in the mean time what am I to do down 2 phones for 2 weeks or more?

So LG and sprint know or should know that these things have screen problems. I have 4 LG's and 3 out of 4 have screen problems!
I will never buy another LG I can tell you that. And I am starting to get the feeling and think like many I have consulted about this phone who say LG is lousy goods.

Toyota was in denial for quite sometime but I would venture to guess that if this continues eventually LG and sprint are going to have to level with all of us and fix our goods that they made they should be recalled.

Anyways I have been a sprint customer for 10+ years and they are going to fix them or they can take these 4 phones and the remaining unpaid bill and shove it. And I will find another carrier and another brand of phone.

Maybe I can send in my 2 phones with cracked screen and get one of those refirbs and they can use my 2 phones for refirbs!
Mine have clean cases and no sign that there was anything that hit them or struck them. It is possible though that someone hit mine with a pencil eraser, but I have no sign of impact where both screen cracked in the same place basically. (maybe because there was no impact)

Sprint no help. They claim their data base doesn't show the cracked screen as an issue. It seems to me based on a few internet searches that this is a very common problem as indicated here and all over the internet.

Nothing like an insurance company denying liability, this is no different convince the customer that the pLG LX600 doesn't have a screen issue when quite clearly it does. The whole thing smells of a class action...denying that the phone has issues isn't going to make us all go away.
