A few people have mentioned that their Lotus screens started developing problems, with the outer screen not working and the inner screen looking like a TV about to go out. I took mine to Sprint, and they gave me vague and confusing directions that led nowhere. So I still have the defective phone and that's why I can tell you what happens next: both screens go completely blank. Which makes the phone almost unusable.

I noticed in this forum that other people managed to exchange defective phones. Is this because you purchased Sprint's insurance? I didn't, but my phone is still well within the 1 year warranty period. I have emailed both Sprint and LG customer support and have not received very satisfactory answers. What should I do?

Sorry to hear that you are having a problem with your Lotus. You do have a one year manufacturers warranty with LG. Here is the link. http://us.lge.com/support/download/search/1000000313_AA_WA_.jhtml Let me know how this works out for you.

My Sprint store offered to get a refurb unit in 2 days, but LG just said if I sent it in, it would take 10-14 days to repair or replace with a refurb. IOW, no new phone.

I did not purchase the extra Ins through Sprint but they immediately offered to get me a replacement phone as it was still under 1yr warrenty. But you dont get a new phone as a replacement, you get a refurb, and as others in this forum have stated I got a refurb with obvious wear. There are scratches on the front sreen. This may seem minor, but the phone I turned in looked like new and I foolishly expected the same in return. Also your year warrenty is not extended to one year from the time you recieve the refurb! So if the refurb goes bad after your original year warrenty is up, even if youve only had the refurb for a week and it goes bad, you are responsible for repair cost. Cost of repair estimate from Sprint if the screens go out was $100.00.

It is not a practice of LG or Sprint (I have worked for both) to issue refurbed units with scratches. If a phone has been used in the past the cosmetic housing is generally new. The only parts that are used are the internal portions of the phone. I am sure that if you voice your concern to Sprint they will take care of you. Have you talked to them about this yet? You are absolutely correct in that you deserve a working model without scratches. I am sorry there had to have been some sort of mixup somewhere down the line.
