I have a week old VM Rumor Touch. This phone has so much potential, but the issues with it need to be fixed. It is buggy to the point of looking more like an internal beta than a public product. Some of the issues I'm seeing: Random power down/restarts as often as every 5 minutes Gps must be disabled to play a youtube video With gps disabled youtube works 25% - click same video 5X before it will work Email app notification only works intermittently Email app occasionally freezes phone on exit Email app occasionally restarts phone on exit Email app occasionally freezes opening Email app send to background - closes after 1-2 minutes - won't stay running Google maps gps function works intermittently Google maps restarts phone on exit Google maps freezes occasionally on exit Notification light blinks green, sometimes goes red with messages, sometimes stays green Media player send to background isn't an option (saw youtube reviews showing this as working?) Send picture results in "over size limit" about half the time Predictive text entry - lists random combinations of letters, any way to edit? ok.... now that I've ranted.... My phone is firmware version VM510PV5 I have seen the sprint version of this phone as version 7. I would assume these issues have been corrected with the firmware update? The problem is that the LG mobile update software won't recognize the VM510 phone. I contacted VM support & very explicitly asked them about the option to update the firmware on my phone, & their automatic response was to send me a replacement refurb - unknown firmware version - phone to replace my brand new phone. Getting a refurb with the same firmware accomplishes nothing more than me getting rid of a phone I know the history of. Their support has no concept what I'm referring to when I mention a firmware update. Please, please, please LG!!! Provide me with a way to update my phone. This would be a fantastic phone if it wasn't buggy. Since VM won't support it, I'm now here hoping to get these issues sorted out. If anyone knows of a way to successfully update the firmware on it please speak up! |

I find it very frustrating to own something with potential and yet be stuck with two companies (LG & Virgin Mobile) on whom I am at the mercy of for any updates. |

I could not agree more. I bought two VM LG Rumor Touch a couple of weeks ago. Besides frequent freezing and rebooting, one of the serious flaws is that when I answer an incoming call by sliding the toggle key to "Answer" the phone would hang up right away. I tried to update the firmware using the "LGMobile Support Tool" but "LGMobile Support Tool" does not think the the phone is connected even when USB cable is connected. The only time there is some action is when the phone's battery is removed before USB cable is connected. "LGMobile Support Tool" would try to connect to the phone. But then the phone will shut itself down with a message saying "Battery is required to charge". Connection is lost again. I contacted LG support, the guy did not offer any useful advice and told me to contact VM and hung up.

I will pass your comments on to Development. I agree, if Sprint has an update available I would hope that VM would follow and update as well... I'll post as soon as I hear anything. |

Sprint's Rumor touch just got another firmware update on 8/28, one that fixes power cycling and text messaging issues. Seems like a pretty important update, yet nothing of it from VM yet. =/ |

Any updates on these issues? Bought two of these potentially great phones very recently, but am having some of these exact same issues. Surely the fixed firmware is available by now? |

Luckily I don't use the phone for very much except voice calls and text messaging. I have 3 main problems with it. 1. I attempt to answer a phone call and it hangs up on the person calling. 2. I just spent hours downloading and attempting different approaches to updating the firmware and even spent about 20-30 mins. on the phone with an LG tech. The program used to update it couldn't find the phone connected to the USB port. 3. It is difficult to scroll down beyond the screen showing and control it. I have to use the arrows on the keypad. The scroll bar is basically not showing on the screen. |
