It's purpose is to let you know how long you've been on a call, which might be important if you were "Roaming." Let me know if that's not it.

I thought it might be a good idea to turn it on when I got the phone but clearly it was a bad idea. It would make a dial tone and then the phone volume automatically turned up, just about killing my ear drum! I think this should fix it but I'll let you know if it doesn't. Thanks!
