For some reason, the Wifi icon has disappeared from my Incite's Today screen and Wireless Manager. If I go to wireless LAN, I get "A Wi-Fi error was detected. Please restart your device." then "Link Down" for Status.

I have restarted, soft reset, no dice. I was second person to report problem on ATT wireless forum. No response yet, no surprise here.

C'mon LG wizards - throw me a rope!

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am having this same issue. If I go to Start->Settings->Connections->Wireless Manager it shows only Bluetooth and Phone options, no wifi. If I go to Start->Settings->Connections->Wireless LAN I get a message "A Wi-FI error was detected. Please restart your device". I have tried restarting the device, resetting the device and hard resetting the device and nothing changes. Is there anything else that can be done?

Is your Incite plugged into your Computer with ActiveSync when your Wireless isn't working? That's the only thing I've seen. If you are not plugged into your PC and are still seeing this issue I would try updating the Incite. You can find the update at:

Click on the "LG Incite Update" Link

I cannot update my phone and I am having the exact same wifi problem. I open up the wireless manager and the wifi on off is non-existent. I cannot change any wifi settings because it gives me a wifi error and tells me to restart my phone and upon restart the problem is not fixed. I feel like there should be a quick solution to this stupid a** problem that is apparently not uncommon for this "smart" phone. Oh and uh nice work on the year later response.....it doesn't give me much hope that a solution to this problem cannot even be salvaged from Lg's very own forums. What good are these forums anyway if you can't even f***** solve customer issues. Also, thanks in advance for the unhelpful solution to be posted. [Edited for Content - LG]

With the Proxy settings turned off, If you can get that far and the error remains, then a Soft or Hard Reset might be required. A soft reset can be performed by inserting a small object in to the whole on the left side of the phone and pressing gently... This will not effect your data but should clear up minor issues. If the problem still persists, then you might need to do a Hard Reset which will erase your data. You will want to back up your device before doing this. There are two ways to Hard Rest your device.
A Hard Reset should only be performed after all other trouble shooting options have been exhausted.
After a hard reset, the device is restored to its default settings - the way it was when you first
purchased it and turned it on. Any programs you installed, data you entered, and settings you
customized on your device will be lost.
1. Power the device ON
2. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Clear Storage.
3. Enter 1234 for the password twice.
4. Press Enter.
5. Select what to reset.
You have to enter your password and confirm again for hard reset. However when you forget your
password, the only way to hard reset the device is via the hard key sequence.

The Second method is performed by pressing three keys with the Power Off
Volume Down, Camera, and the 'End Call' key Until the LCD turns on... This is a last ditch effort. I'm expecting one of my Engineers to be in today and I'll check with him to see what else we can try.

Well, as I expected, another very lame attempt to solve the problem. You think I want to erase all of the data on my phone every time this happens? And yes, thank you, I am already aware of how to hard/soft reset my phone seeing as it is in the manual the phone came with and there are even instructions preloaded in the phone on how to do so. I DO NOT want to format my phones memory in order to fix this problem. You as an "Lg Product Pro" know as well as I do that a hard reset is not the solution anyone is looking for. On a happier note I was able to predict that you would offer no useful information and spit out some more bull$$$$ in order to appease us. I'm just going to assume you will not now nor never be able to provide any of us with useful information about this problem. I'm getting a new phone soon.....guess what brand it's not?

I understand your frustration, and I appreciate your patience. This is an issue I've only seen once before and I believe it's an issue with the Registry... Windows is Windows and unfortunately it happens.

Being an experienced user as you are, You know there are good back up utilities out on the market that you can even use for free that will back up your data and allow you to reset the phone and restore in very little time... Not the ideal solution but it's one way to resolve the problem. You've spent more time insulting LG and myself than it would take to resolve the problem.

Am I an All Knowing Windows 'God' NO!! I never claimed to be, but I am a resource trying to help you. I have queried my technical resources and have not found any that have dealt with the Disappearing WiFi issue before, if they have, they must have reset the phone and just moved on. No One suggested you loose your data, you can back it up! With SPB Backup Sync it takes me all of 5 minutes to backup.

I hate to chase anyone away from LG and I will continue to assist you however I can. But if you insist on being abusive, I'll just say good luck and have a nice day and ignore future posts....
