Does Bitpim offer support for the VU (GSM phone)? If not, you can use Bitpim to export the contacts to a CSV and import them using the software of your choice that does work with your VU.
If your verizon phone has bluetooth you may be able to pair it with the Vu and beam the contacts over to the Vu. You may have to do them one at a time but its better than entering them by hand.
