I just got a new black LG Rhythm 3 days ago. I am an Alltel customer and never before had problems with reception. Well, now when people call me, 9 times out of 10 it will click forever then go straight to voicemail. I have had my daughter use her scoop right beside me and it does the same thing, yet when I call her phone it will immediately ring. Well after numerous phone calls to Alltel, and a visit to the store, i am told that it must be a glitch with the phone, and to take it back and get another one. Has anyone else had the same problem?

PS and just in case you are wondering, my old phone is activated on another line and was powered off when we test called the Rhythm.

I don't know if this applies to you, or even if it is still going on, but I found this:

I neither live in Minnesota nor have Alltel, so I have no way to verify this. It appears, though, that Alltels network has been out in Minnesota for quite some time. You can still send and receive text messages, and even receive calls. The problem, apparently, is outgoing calls. A couple of people wrote into Consumerist to describe and verify the problem.
