I recently purchased the Glimmer 2 weeks ago. I kept missing calls because the ring was too quiet. After a week and a half, I got tired of it and tried to resolve the problem...here's my story:
First, I tried checking the phone for new updates through the "Phone Information" and "Software Update". The phone would start to connect and then pop up an error saying "Unable to connect to server. Please try again later". I called tech support to find out why it didn't work. First, I was told the Glimmer just wasn't capable of receiving updates via the air period. So why have the option??? The tech guy said it's just a standard menu option. He told me to go to an Alltel retail store and they could Flash my phone and send the upgrade that way. So, that afternoon I went to the store. They hooked up my phone, saved my contacts, and then flashed it. They said it'd take 20 minutes. 25 minutes later, I had a dead phone that they couldn't even program. So, that one got trashed. They gave me a new one and sent me on my merry way. Problem STILL was not solved. I charged my new phone fully and then continued to redo my settings. I decided to try the "Software Update" again. This time, it connected! It took 10 minutes and the new version was downloaded! Now, my phone rings quietly for a mere 3 seconds and then blares on full blast! Thank heavens! I can hear my phone!

They must have updated the phone recently, I bought my Glimmer yesterday and it updated fine! |
