Greetings.

When I attempt to pair my new Rumor 2 with my Vista laptop after making the phone visible and detecting it in Vista, I get a window that has a string of numbers and below asks: Does the above code match the code on the device?

...But there is no code on the device. Choosing "yes" does not work (Vista says invalid code, and "no" doesn't either. Choosing "my device does not display a code" tells me to contact the hardware manufacturer, so here I am.

Any ideas?

So are you using the embedded Vista OS Bluetooth Manager or some 3rd party software (meaning do you have built in bluetooth or dongle)? It sounds like the PC is generating a pass key that you dont know the number to.

Try and redo the steps again with the Wizard but select your own passkey and choose something like "0000" as the passkey (there should be several options like no passkey, custom etc).

When you enter the "0000" on the PC and select next, there should be a pop up on your phone asking for that passkey. Enter it on your phone and select ok. After that everything should be hunky dory.

Yes, I have embedded Bluetooth on the laptop.

I have retried the steps using each option available, there was no option to enter a custom code. There was an option for "The device does not display a code", but when you select it you are told to contact the phone's manufacturer.

Seriously, has anyone been able to pair their Rumor 2 with Vista?
