I'm trying to use an LG Ally using BT to connect to an Eclipse AVN726e head unit in a truck. It paired up and connects. The BT music works fine. I can use the key pad on the radio to dial and make a call but the audio always stays on the phone. If I receive a call, the radio show the call and says connected but the sound stays on the phone. So everything is working except the phone audio. Every other phone I've tried works no problem so I can't imagine its the radio. Any ideas? I think I've tried everything.

Update. I've tried about 20 different phones in my truck including several LG brand and they all connect and work fine. I've also found a Bluetooth compatibility chart for the Ally and it shows it works on everything on the chart. But I still can't get the just the audio to transfer off the phone. I hit the Bluetooth button during a call on the phone, which would transfer the audio back and forth from the phone to the radio, but nothing happens. Anyone have any ideas? I really like the phone but I'm going to have to return it for this one issue. Thanks again, John

That's not good, when everything else works but not the Ally. Is the Ally the newest phone in your collection? Are there any Updates available for your Eclipse?

Let me know what you decide.

I won't be able to find out if Eclipse has an update till Monday. (the girl isn't in today) The compatibility chart for Eclipse does not list the ALLY yet but every other phone and BT version are listed as compatible. Searching the net I haven't found any compatibility issues for the ALLY or the Eclipse. I think the ALLY is the newest phone I've tried. My wife just got the LG COSMO the same day and that works fine. The Motorola DROID also worked fine which is a pretty new phone. I just can't get the phone audio to transfer. Every other function works fine. I'm gonna call and see how long I have to return it. Hopefully I can wait till Monday. Thanks, John

MORE INFO: The LG enV3 has BT Ver: 2.1+EDR This phone worked and is listed as compatible on Eclipse site. The MOtorola DROID also has BT ver: 2.1+EDR witch also works. The LG ALLY also has BT Ver: 2.1+EDR. Should this mean it should work?

Yes it should. There also several functions or profiles under Bluetooth, and I'm wondering if there is a problem with the PBA Profile.... Looking at the Specs it does say that Ally supports the PBA profile.

Interestingly enough I just had another thread and this is part of the thread that might be applicable... Keep in mind this is for the "enV3" not the Ally, but still might apply.

"Thanks for your reply. I have found the answer to my perplexing situation. From this site http://www.syncmyride.com/Own/Modules/Intercepts/InterceptIOP.aspx I found a link to the Ford Live Chat Support. This operator explained how I should download numbers and contacts to my ENV3.

On the main page of www.syncmyride.com in the upper left corner of the page is an avatar for Sync by Microsoft. It is a click able link. Scroll down to "Sync Tools" Click on Sync my phone. Download the .exe file for windows and install on your computer. It will open an app. that will allow you to type your contacts in a file. When finished editing your numbers in the file, download the file into a USB Flash Drive. While the car is on, connect your phone to SYNC via Bluetooth.

Press the "Phone" button on your car. Press the "Menu" button on your car.

Navigate to "System Settings" > "Advanced" > "Install Application."

Press "OK" to begin the installation.

DO NOT REMOVE THE USB DRIVE OR DISCONNECT THE PHONE MANUALLY UNTIL AFTER SYNC SAYS INSTALLATION COMPLETE!

The phone will disconnect and reconnect a few times throughout the process. This is expected behavior.

SYNC will say "Installation Complete."

It is now safe to remove the USB drive and reconnect your phone to SYNC.

You can now use your new phone book!

Just a note-be sure to type all your contacts into the file and just not the ones you want to add. I just added the contacts that didn't download and when I opened the phone book, it had erased all the numbers and installed just the contacts I had put into the list. Second time was a charm and now have all my contacts in the Ford Sync. It would be a lot easier if there was a way to download all your contacts into this app. without typing them all. Maybe someone will have an answer for that. Thanks for your help. You saved me from pulling out my last 2 hairs."

Thanks for the reply. All the info deals with the phone book info. My only problem is with the sound from a phone call not transferring to the car radio. I tried several more cell phones at a party last night and every phone transfers the the phone call sound to the car speakers except mine. Very frustrating. There was also another Motorola Droid that worked. The only reason I went with the ALLY instead was I liked the smaller size of the ALLY. If I can't figure it out in the next couple days I'll just have to switch. Thanks again, John

Sorry about that... I don't blame you for switching if the Ally doesn't work... One more question. What version of Android are your Motorola Droids running? Unless you have updated them I think they are running 1.6... Maybe it's an issue with Android 2.1 that the Ally is running... I guess this won't help much, but just an issue you might experience when the update is pushed to your Droids. Just be aware. I'll keep looking into it on this end.

Thanks for the feed back!

I ended up sending the phone back to switch to the Motorola Droid. Very frustrated as I liked the Ally better. The several Motorola Droids that worked were all BT 2.1+EDR. So was the enV3. I talked again to Eclipse Tech support (Radio Manufacturer) and he said they have an Ally on order to test but all the other Droids worked fine. He has a HTC Droid and has no problems. Also said it would be the first phone that would have an issue. I'm convinced there is a bug with the Ally but time will tell. Thanks for all the replies!!

Sorry the Ally didn't work out for you... Enjoy the Droid.

I've had the Motorola Droid for a while now. I really like the ALLY much better and would recommend it over the Motorola to anyone. The keyboard is much better including having number keys and other extra keys. I liked the power button on the face rather than the side of the Motorola. The Motorola also does not have a phone button on the face like the Ally. There are also toggles for Bluetooth, Wifi and GPS already loaded on the Ally. I really wish I could switch back to the Ally!
