Recently, I bought a data cable for charging or transferring data between my phone and computer.

I successfully installed the drivers, and my computer recognizes the phone (LG Cosmos). However, I cannot access the photos. The phone does not show up anywhere in Windows Explorer.

Am I doing something wrong? I want to transfer photos from my phone onto my computer.

Whick model of the Cosmos do you have??  Generally, you will need an SD Card in the phone in order to have PC connectivity.  The PC actually talks to the SD card and can transfer files back and forth.

With the SD Card in the phone, you should be able to go into your Photo album, on the phone, and copy or move all of your photos to the SD Card and then plug the phone into the USB cable.  Make sure the phone is in "Mass Storage" mode and the SD card will show up on your PC as another Drive.

Let me know how this works.

Well, the whole point of the the cord was so I did not need an SD card.

If I need an SD card for the photo transfer, then what do even need the cord for? I can put an SD card directly into my computer. I do not have an SD card, but I know it will work.

Yes there are two ways to transfer files...  A lot of people don't have or want to use an SD Card Reader.
