As of 10/30/09 neither LG nor Straighttalk.com have a spare/replacement battery available to purchase on the new LG290C cell phone . I haven`t seen a similar battery yet . Any suggestions ?

I think most of us 'have' gone back to where we purchased the phone.  In my case, it's Walmart, and they do not have batteries for this phone in my area.  Possibly other locations do carry them, but not mine.

It's just odd...even the company who sells the phone doesn't have them.  I think this would be good grounds for either a replacement phone or a refund, imo.

I'm sorry for the issues you are seeing with the LG290c Batteries...  Have you tried LG directly at (800) 793-8896?  Doing a Google search I came across a few dealers who had the battery you need...  I know this isn't ideal but I hope it helps.

At first glance I thought that finding a battery would be easy in your case. Upon further research I can't even find one on eBay. I will continue to look. How long have you had your phone? Have you checked with Wal-Mart?

This is pretty scary to me. I too just purchased the LG 290C cell phone on October 29, 2009 from Straighttalk.com and I am shocked when searching LG's website that they don't even have any information on this phone at all. Go ahead search LG's website and forum.. this post is all you will come up with. Why put the LG logo on the phone if you're going to pretend not to manufacture it? I don't feel comfortable at all purchasing a phone the manufacturer itself denies it's existance. I pray the battery will never die.

I've learned that MY phone the Slider LG LG290C is the same exact phone as the one SPRINT carries called the SLIDER LG LX290

I added links to BOTH the SPRINT and STRIAGHT TALK cell phones.

(SPRINT):

http://nextelonline.nextel.com/NASApp/onlinestore/en/Action/SubmitRegionAction?isUpgradePathForCoverage=false&currZipCode=&upgradeOption=&nextPage=DisplayPhones&equipmentSKUurlPart=%3FcurrentPage%3DphonePage&filterStringParamName=&newZipCode=06330

(Straight Talk):

http://tracfone.deviceanywhere.com/straighttalk/home.seam?deviceId=639

The only difference between the two is the color, price and carrier. THAT'S IT!.OH, not to mention the fact that you're under contract with Sprint and NOT Straight Talk!

ALL of the accessories that fit the SPRINT LX290 will IN FACT fit your STRAIGHT TALK SLIDER LG LG290C CELL PHONE!, INCLUDING THE BATTERY!!..

These two phone are identical to each other, the dimensions are very close to each other, and use the same 900mAh battery(STANDARD) that comes with it.

I just purchased a HOT pink HARD rubberized case from http://www.accessorygeeks.com/ for a little bit over $9 for the LX290 phone and it fits PERFECT onto my straight talk LG290c phone

I suggest http://www.cellularoutfitter.com to purchase batteries or nicer but pricier accessories.

GOOD LUCK!!

Good information, Thanks! Another source for Batteries is http://www.buywirelessnow.com/lg/buy/accessories/cat/127
Personally, I'd be careful buying Non LG branded batteries.

I am also looking for a spare battery for this phone for a friend of mine...not to mention it would be good to know just in case mine ever goes out. Indeed the only place that will actually claim that this model exists is TRACPhone, the company that created Straight-Talk. But unfortunately, they do not supply extra batteries from what I could tell.

I went to the Cellular Outfitter site and though they do say they have a battery that fits the LG LX290 (slightly different in appearance from LG290C), for $15, they give almost no reliable information and the picture they show, isn't even the same battery. If anyone has used this site and gotten the correct battery, please let us know - Because this may be an option.

I also checked the site that LG Product Pro suggested and though it is a great place to buy batteries, once again the company does not recognize our phone.

Thank You

TRACPhone

**Edit: Tracfone

Sorry for the error, long morning.I rechecked the site and all they have is one kit for this phone that includes various types of charges and cables for the phone - no batteries.

The LG290 and the LX290 should be the same phone. The "LG" verses "LX" is more of a Carrier designation. The actual number "290" tells us which phone model it is. But just to be safe, I'd make sure you purchase a battery through a place that allows returns if anything goes wrong.

Today is April 7, 2011, and the LG 290C battery is STILL not available anywhere, not even Straight Talk.

I spoke to Straight Talk about this problem and they want me to call back on a land-line phone so we can trouble-shoot and see if there's something wrong with my phone.  I asked her if they even have batteries for this phone and she couldn't give me an answer.  Anyway, there's a possibility I may get a new phone, because they didn't forsee these batteries going out this soon after purchase....they should last a lot longer.

I did purchase one on eBay, but it only held a charge for a couple months.  Other people were complaining about the same issue with that seller, so I believe I got a used battery.

IF I can find the Sprint LX290 Battery, I might give it a shot.  Have to be careful though, depending on how new the phone is....it could invalidate your warranty.  It shouldn't, but it might.
